How would I go about installing an AverTV Hybrid Volar HX?

This is for 64 bit drivers, but probably the same solution applies to the 32-bit version by just using x86 instead of x64 in filenames. The solution is inspired in the great work by the guys of linuxtv.org

1. Create a directory called AverTVVolarHX in your home
2. Download C038A827H826_Installer_x64_0.10-Beta_091126.zip from AverMedia WebSite to that directory
3. Create in same directory patch file aver.patch:

5. During the installation choose Expert Installation, select /home/<youruser>/AverTVVolarHX as the directory for expert installation and finish installation (it just will output the module sources to /home/<youruser>/AverTVVolarHX/H826D-expert-install)
6. Now you need an hex editor, e.g. ghex, which is in the default repositories. Hex edit file /home/<youruser>/AverTVVolarHX/H826D-expert-install/aver/osdep_dvb.o_shipped and replace param_array_get and param_array_set by param_array_ops
7. Create in directory /home/<youruser>/AverTVVolarHX/H826D-expert-install installer.sh:

8. Finally run installer.sh

The H826D-expert-install directory is the only thing you need for future recompilations, so save it somewhere else. The other files and dirs can now be safely deleted.
