I have a triple-boot system with Windows, Ubuntu and Arch Linux. I have successfully dual-booted Ubuntu and Windows, and I have set up an installation of the arch in another partition, but I am not able to get a boot entry for Arch from the boot menu. I have run:
$ sudo update-grub
And the command outputs "Found Arch Linux on /dev/sda7"
, but no entry is added to the menu nor the /boot/grub/grub.cfg
Please advise. I am trying to add the Arch entry to the Ubuntu menu since I have been a long time user of Ubuntu, but I am a newbie to Arch.
Below is the results generated by boot-info-script:

I realized that there had to be a separate /boot partition that is mounted to both Ubuntu and Arch for it to be discoverable by both operating systems. After changing that, I could generate a grub menu for Arch using
grub-mkconfig
. Then I added the generated grub as a custom menu entry to the Ubuntu operating system configured in/etc/grub.d/40_custom
, that way when there is a kernel change in Ubuntu and the grub gets updated, there will allways be a backup boot entry for Arch.
