I need to set a specific username for printing (network printer at work).
In Kubuntu 16.04, I used to be able to set it using the CUPS interface at http://localhost:631 (via Administration, Manage Printers, Set Default Options, Job Log, UserId). However, in Kubuntu 20.04, it is not working.
I tried to set User myname
in /etc/cups/cups-files.conf
, but when I do that and do sudo service cups restart
, CUPS fails and the printer dialog says "Print service is unavailable. Bad file descriptor". Should it not be possible to set the User
variable in that file?
