My wife and I both use stock 22.04LTS with MATE installed under 22.04. She has both a speaker icon and a mailbox icon on her upper panel. I had these two icons in the past. On my wife's machine when I click on the panel icon and then About, I get Indicator Applet Complete. However, when I did a fresh install of 22.04 on a new drive, along with MATE (not MATE Ubuntu as the OS, but MATE under 22.04 as the GUI windowing system along with the default Gnome), installed the ayatana indicators upon with the MATE indicator applet complete depends, and then placed Indicator Applet Complete on a MATE panel, I get neither the mailbox nor the speaker icon. Note that Internet email as well as the sound subsystem on my machine both work. The pulse audio volume control also works and is in the panel (it is in my wife's machine along with the speaker icon). How does add the speaker (not the volume control "knob") and mailbox to the MATE Indicator Applet Complete?
