MacbookPro8,1 Ubuntu 16.04

I currently I am trying to install Ubuntu 16.04 on MacbookPro8,1.

I have found the following guides 12.04 https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBookPro8-2#Wireless and 14.04 https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBookPro8-2/Trusty .

Both Ubuntu 14 and 16 don't boot by live CD on this laptop. I have read it has to do with editing the grub but I was wonder if there is a non GUI option that would avoid this issue.

    So I ended up replacing the cd drive in the laptop to successfully boot the computer eventually.

    It was exactly an alternative solution but did work for my case.
