I've already updated my ca_certificates. Also, I've done the trick to replace https with http in the sources file and took it back. The issue persists.

Does anyone know how to overcome this issue?

so to do that i installed the old kernel 5.15.150 and booted in recovery mode but everything was crushed (apps not opening, gnome bugged, WiFi not working) now am trying with more recent kernel 6.4 but i am afraid i would not find it. is there anyone one that tried to install it and it worked?

i have an issue with my WIFI

it works fine after reboot for 8-10 minutes but then it starts to reconnect, loses connection and so on

this issue started after kernel update on my old Ubuntu 22.04.5 LTS and i found my WIFI working stable only on kernel 5.15.0-76-generic so i used it

when i upgraded to Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS i hoped it will fix my issue, but even the last kernel 6.8.0-48-generic update did not help

i tried to copy driver folder from kernel 5.15.0-76-generic to the new kernel (ChatGPT helped), then i tried surfacego-wifi - no result

now i have two options

1. work on ethernet cable
2. switch to old OS/kernel

but i like new Ubuntu 24 so please help me to fix this issue

I am trying to install Ubuntu 24.04. Since I have a windows partition, I chose the manual partitioning. I must choose a drive to install the bootloader. Two drives are listed: my hard drive and my usb stick. Obviously, I want to install the bootloader on the hard drive but it is grayed out and I can only select the USB (see image).

On my hard drive, there is a partition of 104Mo that I indicated I want to use as /boot with format VFAT. I thought maybe it was too small but even if I put a larger /boot VFAT partition, the hard drive is still grayed out... (I will also use sda6 as my root partition but when I set it does not change anything)

I installed several times ubuntu and it is the first time that I face this issue... I have no idea what could be the problem.

Could you tell me how to fix it?

EDIT: As suggested by @user68186, deleting the root and swap partitions on the live USB using gparted before the installation made it possible to select my hardrive for the bootloader.

How can I fix the "Dummy Output" problem on a 2017 MacBook Pro (Intel-based)? Currently, sound isn't working and I see "Dummy Output" as the output device when I attempt to increase (or decrease) the volume.

I found a similar question: Dummy Output and No Input devices on 2017 iMac Pro and the fix was using https://github.com/egorenar/snd-hda-codec-cs8409 (Linux Kernel Sound Driver for Cirrus Logic CS8409 (e.g. for iMac27 5k)) which has 6 outstanding issues and hasn't been updated for 2 years.

There is also https://github.com/davidjo/snd_hda_macbookpro (Kernel audio driver for Macs with 8409 HDA chip + MAX98706/SSM3515 amps) which is more recently maintained (5 months ago) but isn't official and has 62 open issues. Is this my best bet

Update: I installed snd_hda_macbookpro and I now see "Headphones" instead of "Dummy Output" but still no sound.

Update 2: I installed snd-hda-codec-cs8409 (by running make and make install in the repo's directory) and still "Headphones" is displayed and I hear no sound.
