Earlier I had dual boot ( Windows 10 + Ubuntu 24.04 ), which booted fast. Recently, I cleared the Windows partition and installed Ubuntu, but found out that now booting takes too much time. What can be done and how do I troubleshoot?

On Kubuntu 24.04 the shortcut Ctrl+Space is associated with changing the keyboard layout, but I need to use that shortcut in all IDE's that I use (Intellij, Visual Studio).

How can I remove the system from using Ctrl+Space?

I recently upgraded my desktop to Ubuntu 24.04.1 LTS. My printer didn't work had to install driver from database 'HPEnvy 4520'. Printer OK

However Document Scanner doesn't work: can see the scanner HP ENVY4524 but FAIL TO SCAN FEEDER EMPTY.

There is no feeder on this printer

When publishing multiple apps inside one snap, snapcraft prefixes the appname with "snapname." so the end user appears to see an executable name of "snapname.appname"

My snap is a collection of 7 cli utilities. all with a common prefix, let say "snapname".

but their names are:

snapname-appname

using a minus/dash instead of a period separator, which is much more common in linux cli utilities.

my utilities will also be published via .deb and .rpm etc, so I would like the naming to be consistent as otherwise the documentation will be confusing.

Is there any way around the apparently fixed prefixing scheme with the period?

I downloaded the vivaldi-stable_7.0.3495.14-1_amd64.deb from https://vivaldi.com, then started the FileManager from my whisker menu and pointed at the downloaded file. It ended with an error saying it could not satisfy a dependency "Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: libglib2.0-0 (>=2.39.4)"

When I have synaptic look at libglib, I see three installed packages with version listed as "2.80.0-6ubuntu3.1"; those packages are libglib2.0-0t64, libglib2.0-bin and libglib2.0-data

The obvious question is: how do I get Vivaldi on this machine?
