I am using the Gnome To-Do app and want to sync my CalDAV to-do-lists.

My To-Do Lists are safed on an hosted Open Xchange Server (via CalDav) so I could not set it up as a Ubuntu Online Account. I used Evolution to set it up my Account in the evolution-data-server hwich works fine. Sync for CalDAV calenders and to-dos in evolution works, sync for calender with the standalone calender app works, too. CardDAV sync for contacts also works.

But syncing tasks with the standalone to-to app does not work and I dont understand why.

I did some research and found some fairly old bug reports with the similar issues.

So I have to questions. Do you have a working CalDav sync for to-dos (not via Nextcloud etc.) and can you help me fix my setup? If this bug has still not been fixed do you have any suggestions for another to-do-list app which syncs via CalAV?

I was trying to set up iCloud Calendar on Evolution (3.28.5-0ubuntu0.18.04.1).

After everything settled, I found that I could not RECEIVE the calendar online, which says:

The calendar backend servicing “Personal” encountered an error.
The reported error was “Failed to read resource: HTTP error code 404 (Not Found)”.

However, when I add a new appointment in the Evolution, the appointment will also appeared on iCloud Calendar or masOS Calendar.

Therefore, I suppose my settings are correct because the pushing service works pretty well.

Is there anyone encountered this problem before? I am a newbie in Ubuntu, the Calendar function works perfect on Evolution in Manjaro, and the settings are all the same.

I have already read the posts on Ask Ubuntu, but no one has post questions like this.

The settings are as followings:

Choose Calendar from Find Calendars and get URL

On my main machine I am running Thunderbird with Lightning and have several CalDAV calendars connected. Furthermore there is also a CardDAV address book hooked up.

How can I transfer those CalDAV and CardDAV connections to a further machine?

To get the mentioned connections available on a second machine I have the following options:

  1. Create all connections completely from scratch (-> annoying)
  2. Copy the whole directory ~/.thunderbird to the new machine (-> impractical, because mail profiles would be copied as well)
  3. Copy only necessary files for calendars and the address book to the new machine (-> desired)

I want to avoid setting it up by hand. So: Which files do I have to copy from ~/.thunderbird?

My guess is something like:

  • File storage.db
  • File prefs.js (only the lines with "calendar")
  • Directory calendar-data

But where is the connection for CardDAV stored?

My work calendar is available at https://username:[email protected]/caldav.php/username/calendar (example, but results are same with valid creds).

The new Calendar in Bionic looks great, and syncs well with other services, so I'd like to have my work calendar integrated to the view at top of screen in default Gnome 3.28.1

If I try to add it:

  • In Gnome Calendar, I select "Calendars"
  • I click "Add" > "From Web ..."
  • I enter the valid calendar URL and creds (eg https://username:[email protected]/caldav.php/username/calendar)
  • A progress bar shows briefly behind the URL text entry field
  • The "Add" button remains greyed out / without text

it looks the same with valid credentials ?

How else can I add my CalDav work calendar to my desktop environment?

I can access the calendar using curl with the same URL or curl --user username:password (ie Basic Auth).

I am trying to get a calendar that works with my own caldav server. I note that Calendar seems to have the basic stuff there, since it can talk to both Exchange and Google. But none of those options seem actually to work with caldav, even though some various posts online suggest it ought to be possible. Am I missing something? (This is a showstopper for me -- if I can't make the calendar work I ditch Linux again and go back to Mac OS and the incredibly good BusyCal.) The other answers don't seem to answer this question. I tried Evolution, but I don't need a mail client (I have mutt) and I wasn't even able to get through the mail configuration successfully (it hung and then there was some error about missing services), so I didn't get to the calendar.

Oddly, I tried California first, because I'd heard about it first, and it seemed that gave me a caldav login (but it dodn't work), even when I tried Calendar. But once I removed California the option was gone.

I sure hope it's possible to use caldav on Ubuntu! [edited to add]: This is on Ubuntu 17.10, freshly installed and updated.
