After Installing Ubuntu 20.04 I am having an overheating problem and my charging stops because of it even in the idle state of the processors. But with windows neither my charging stops nor my laptop overheats. I was using Ubuntu 19.04 before 20.04 and there wasn't this kind of problem. To avoid this situation I'm using windows, that I don't like. Give me a solution if you have overcome this kind of problem. I am attaching the system monitors's pic to show you what is the situation of my resources and at this instant, I am facing this problem.
I shifted to ubuntu 20.04 from windows 8 . Now I have some problems with my battery.
When it is around 20% it immediately drops to 5-6% and then shut down
I charged it to 100% but as soon as I remove the plug it goes to 91-92%
I had tried power-calibrate -R -r 20 -d 5 -s 21 -n 0 -p
but nothing changed.
I have an Asus ROG GL503 laptop, which came pre-installed with Asus Battery Health Charging software. This software gives me the option to limit my battery charging level to 60% to prolong the overall battery lifespan. Whenever I boot using Ubuntu(18.04), my battery keeps charging until it reaches 100%. Is there any method by which I can limit my battery charging up to a certain level?
I performed the most recent kernel update on my Dell 5290 2-in-1 earlier today. But moments after I plug it into its docking station, the screen flickers, blanks and freezes. The only item left on the screen is the mouse pointer, and it is stuck.
If I leave the tablet not plugged in, it runs just fine. It seems to be the docking station that triggers the freeze.
That said, I can log into the tablet via ssh even with the screen frozen. So the system is still running. But if I try to reboot the tablet via the reboot
command, nothing appears to happen. sudo reboot -f
will reboot the system, while sudo reboot
will not.
Any ideas where I should start looking to identify this problem?
I am currently living in Japan but using a Dell XPS 13 bought in the U.S but with a Swedish charger, I thus have to use a power converter in order to fit my charger into the Japanese plugs. In the beginning I had no problems with this at all, but then suddenly this message was displayed when I turned on the laptop(which got Ubuntu 16.04 installed):
I was not allowed to post images so I'll write down the text here instead: "Alert! The AC power adapter wattage and type cannot be determined. The battery may not charge. The system will adjust the performance to match the power available."
I can hit F1 and start the laptop anyway and it runs fine as long as the power plug is connected, but the battery won't charge at all. The strange thing is that this happened the first time a couple of weeks ago but then suddenly it disappeared for a while and the battery would charge just fine. Then it returned and now it's been like this for over a week. I haven't been able to find any information regarding this online and I have tried two different power converters with the same result.
Any ideas how this can be fixed?
