Cheese as installed allows image capture by left clicking on an icon. Is there any way to initiate an image capture by pressing a key instead?
I believe this question is independent of any specific version of Ubuntu. For those who strictly monitor the requirement to use only supported versions- This question came up while using Ubuntu version 22.04. About cheese shows 41.1
On upgrading to Ubuntu 22.04 LTS from 20.04 LTS, the inbuilt cheese application is not working properly. On running it, displays a Blank Black Screen.
Unable to capture vedios also. It gets stucked.
Please help me in fixing this.
Running cheese from the cmdline reports no errors, and "cheese -v" reports "Cheese 3.32.1" thus the app should display a preferences/settings menu button, but none is displayed. (Functions as if it expects the desktop to support the global appmenu, which it doesn't, and AFAIK support for which has been removed from the app.)
Earlier versions of Cheese used to have a menu like this:

I would like to do a fresh install of cheese. I have purge-removed the package and re-installed but when I open up cheese it has my old settings. Where are the cheese config files located? I would like to remove the cheese config file and I have tried searching for the config file in my home directory with
~ $ find -name '*cheese*'
But I still can't find it. I am running ubuntu 12.10.
cheese records at painful fps. video recording is really slow in cheese almost unusable. How can I increase the fps for cheese.
I have HCL laptop with built in 1.3 MP camera 2.47 GHz i3 processor with 2 GB RAM. running maverick 32 bit.
I installed camorama from software centre which has fine video (fps), but I can't seem to use it due to some error. So I doubt there is something to be tweaked with cheese itself.
