I don't want to use a text editor, but an CLI program like crudini that accepts a command to directly do that on config files.

I tried to create a custom mimetype (text/graphml+xml) by creating the file ~/.local/share/mime/packages/graphml+xml-mime.xml with this content:

And installed an appropriate icon with:

xdg-icon-resource-resourse install --context mimetype --novendor --size ${size} --mode user text-x-graphml+xml.png

Then updated the database with

update-mime-database ~/.local/share/mime

But the icon for a my.graphml file is not displayed in nautilus (it's a debian minimal gnome system).

The icons in ~/.local/share/icon/hicolor/${size}x${size}/mimetype/text-x-graphml+xml.png does exist.

gio info my.graphml says:

I can double click it and the file is opened with yed (as I want - did create the ~/.local/share/applicatons/yed.desktop file and the application does show in the applications pannel with the appropriate icon).

But no icon! :-(

It's a debian testing system, installed with debootstrap and grown from there (trying to keep it minimal). I'm afraid this might also mean some packages might be missing...

I want to override (but not lock) Firefox preferences for all users of a given host, including but not limited to the homepage. Here's something that doesn't work:

Where is the authoritative documentation for firefox configuration management? Where are the text files that comprise all preferences and their default values? Which paths are searched and in what order?

On December 11 my 18.04 LTS systems received an update of pulseaudio from version 7.2 to version 7.5

However, on December 12, version 7.5 was deleted from the repos in favor of version 7.4.

What was wrong with the version of this software that was distributed on the 11th, and what risk am I incurring by running this version on my LTS machines?

Downgrading to 7.4 does not appear to be a simple process, at least for systems running Lubuntu.

I have a production server running Ubuntu. I would like to setup similar configuration installed on my local machine. I'd like to have same packages installed.

Since bandwidth is a constraint the traditional disk cloning methods won't work for me. Having same packages installed and same users with same passwords created would be wonderful; I'll tweak the rest of the things manually.

Is there a good solution for my requirements?
