I bought a new computer, a precision tower 7920 with Quadro RTX 4000 GPUs. Because the nvidia driver installation is so complicated, I ordered the machine with Ubuntu (as it was supported by Dell and comes pre-installed).

However from the very first time I turned the computer on it won't boot, getting stuck at

Starting Gnome Display Manager

showing no error messages, but not moving forward from that point. Just like in this question: GUI does not start

It looks like the graphic drivers aren't installed properly. I could start debugging this. But my concern is: Should I even consider that Dell would send a new computer that is incapable of booting? Is this an 'exchange the product' case?

I tried to install Ubuntu 18.10 on my XPS 15 9570 earlier. Everything was working fine until I got to the partition selection part of the installation. That's when the installer crashed and I had to shut down my machine. I think it's because I had my SATA configuration set to RAID ON instead of AHCI, which is now fixed.

Now when I try to run the installer from my bootable USB I get the following error

Failed to open \EFI\BOOT\mmx64.efi - Not Found
Failed to load image \EFI\BOOT\mmx64.efi: Not Found
Failed to start MokManager: Not Fond
Something has gone seriously wrong: import_mok_state() failed

Hoping someone might have some idea as to what is going on

I'm experiencing a serious problem with the new Ubuntu 18.04:

System
Dell XPS 13 with a freshly installed Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.

Problem description
The touchpad provides only primary button (single click and double click), but no secondary button. In particular, when using the "test Your Settings" option in Settings -> Devices -> Mouse & Touchpad, any click on the touchpad is signaled as primary button, no matter where I click (left or right side of the touchpad). This remains the case even after I change the Primary Button from Left to Right (in Settings -> Devices -> Mouse & Touchpad -> General).

In comparison, an external mouse connected to my laptop (via usb) works fine: it provides both primary and secondary buttons with sides corresponding to the choice of Primary Button (in Settings -> Devices -> Mouse & Touchpad -> General).

This may be related to Touchpad right click doesn't work on touchpad, only the buttons above it. Thinkpad E480 Ubuntu 18.04 LTS

Any ideas?

Meanwhile, I found out that in addition to the solution proposed by EntropyWins, one can also control this touchpad behavior via the Tweaks tool (a.k.a. gnome-tweaks) under Keyboard & Mouse -> Touchpad -> Mouse Click Emulation. In any case, as EntropyWins explains in his answer, this is not a bug.

I have a Dell 7737 laptop, and with Ubuntu 16.04 it no longer suspends when the laptop lid is closed. With 14.04 closing the lid put the laptop to suspend as expected. However, I reloaded the system with Ubuntu 16.04 and now closing the laptop does nothing. The laptop continues to run as if nothing happened.

When I manually select "Suspend" from the menu it works as expected. (Though it does prompt me to double login on resume. No, not encryption login followed by OS login. This is a double OS login.)

NOTE: Altering the System Settings|Power doesn't seem to affect anything.

Any ideas on what changed from 14.04 to 16.04 in this area?

I have installed Ubuntu 11.10 on a vista laptop, but Dell is providing the BIOS update in .exe format currently my bios version is A09 but on the driver download site the latest version of bios is A011.

Help me out to update the bios.
