I installed the latest version of Eclipse onto Ubuntu 18.04 with the official installer from the Eclipse website, however I can't get it to appear on my favorites bar/dock.

I have tried dragging the executable file to the dock, but it doesn't work.

I can't find it with the "show applications" button. I can only run it by clicking on its executable file.

How can I get Eclipse to appear on the favorites bar/dock?

This isn't a duplicate of this question because the same process doesn't work. Changing the text file to an executable doesn't work.

I want to make Ubuntu dock like Windows taskbar

(as you see Windows has three Explorer icons and Ubuntu has only one Files icon

Is it possible to uncombine/ungroup apps in Ubuntu?

I am using Ubuntu 18.04 and used this command

gsettings set org.gnome.shell.extensions.dash-to-dock click-action 'minimize'

to turn on minimize on dock with single click on icon. How to revert back and turn off this feature?

Because it's irritating for browser if multiple window open. How to exclude browsers from this settings and/or how to revert back system wide?

I've just upgraded to Ubuntu 17.10 and am missing the Ubuntu Dock settings, i.e. in gnome-control-center the dock settings are blank:

I think I might be missing the "ubuntu-dock" package, but can't find this anywhere in the software centre.

Also the gnome-control-center was completely missing after the update, and I had to install this separately - not sure if this is related.

I think this is different from ubuntu-dock settings not accessible in gnome-control-center by default because changing the type of GNOME session doesn't fix the problem. If I go for GNOME* I get no Dock settings section at all, and if I got for Ubuntu* I get the blank Dock settings section described above.

I have two questions :

First, I wanted to hide Ubuntu’s side-bar, so I set the settings in appearance to 'autohide'. The side bar did indeed disappear but when I roll over the left side, the side bar don't appear again. So, I am using a virtual box. Can it explain the fact that this bar doesn't show again when it is set to autohide.

Second, assuming I wouldn't be able to come over the problem, I pined to the dock every element of the sidebar, except the dash home. Is it possible either to pin it in the dock or to launch it from the terminal ?
