Ever since a recent update of Ubuntu (through the standard update prompt - not a major version update), the "cable snake" symbol keeps appearing in the taskbar every few seconds. i.e. the symbol with the three dots below:

Why does it now keep appearing and how do I stop it? I would like to make it stop constantly appearing and disappearing because it is distracting.

OS: Ubuntu 18.04.5 LTS
Package: bolt (0.5-0ubuntu0.18.04.1). system daemon to manage thunderbolt 3 devices.

Additional info: It appears that this bug has been fixed for Focal Fossa. However, I am running Bionic Beaver and have a good reason not to upgrade at the moment.

I have a Lenovo T490s that I plug into a Lenovo ThinkpadUltraDockingStation. I recently upgraded from Ubuntu 18 to 20.04. The problem is that now when I plug in the headphones in the docking station nothing happens, i.e. the sound continues to come from the laptop built-in audio. Please note the following:

• this happens also if in Settings > Output Device I set Analog Output - ThinkPad Dock USB Audio;
• with the same laptop running Windows the headphones output in the docking station works fine, which makes me think that it is a bug in Ubuntu itself.

So far I've tried multiple solutions found around the web, which involve for instance editing /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf, but nothing worked. Does anyone have any idea?

I have a Dell XPS 15 9570 with a Dell WD19 Dock and on this Dock I have 2 Monitors. The internal Monitor of the Notebook is off but the Lid is open.

I have installed Ubuntu 20.04 LTS.

Everything is working fine, except the following Icon in the Top bar is blinking (Appearing and Disappearing). I don´t know what that is. It looks like a cord but the Notebook charging as expected.

It blinks sometimes in a faster and another Time in a slower speed -> Something between 2 - 5 Seconds.

The Dock are the complete Time connected.

Exact behavior: It's blinking when I have connected my Laptop to the WD19 Docking Station. It's not blinking when I connect my Laptop ONLY to the normal Power Cord or have NO connection to Dock and Power Cord. But it's also blinking when I connect to the Docking Station AND the normal Power Cord.

Do anyone knows what this means? And how can I stop this? It's really annoying when some icons jumping all the time left and right!

Here I found some logs. Maybe this is the Event:

I have 19.04 on a Lenovo ThinkPad T580. When my laptop is not docked, default audio output device is "Speakers - built-in". But when I put my laptop in a docking station, it changes default audio output device to "Analog Output - ThinkPad Dock USB Audio".

I don't have any speakers connected to my dock, so I would like to continue to have audio out of the built-in speakers. Of course, I can just change it back manually every time I dock my computer, but it would be much nicer, if it just stopped changing default audio output device whenever I docked my computer.

Any ideas how to accomplish this?

I just bought a Lenovo USB 3.0 Docking Station. It works with my keyboard, but not with the monitors: ubuntu just does no recognize the external monitors when I connect them.

Sorry for the lack of details, I am a newbie and I really do not know where to look for. It would be really good if anyone can help me with that.
