I'm using Faenza icon theme on Ubuntu, specifically its Faenza-Darkest version for dark backgrounds (such as Ambiance theme). After upgrading from 18.04 to 19.04 some icons seem broken. Please see the screenshot:
Instead of beige folder icons, I get these dull grey ones. I tried re-installing Faenza, but its PPA seems to be down and Faenza is missing from the official Ubunbu PPAs.
How can I fix my icon theme?
I have installed several icon sets, e.g. faenza via the equinox PPA.
However, they do not appear in GNOME Tweaks > Appearance > Icons.
I have done both ALT-F2 + R and reboot, still not showing.
I cannot activate/use them. There is not really much that can be done wrong when installing them via PPA. So what am I missing?
I have tried getting icons in Ubuntu 12.04 2d, by putting them in the /.icons folder and using "Ubuntu Tweak Tool".
It doesn't work (This didn't work in 11.10 either so I think it isn't a bug).
They don't show up in the icons drop down menu. I was wondering if there was any other way to activate an icon theme. If it uses terminal could you tell me instructions using the "faenza theme".
Also the same problem happened trying to install a theme but I am very happy with 12.04's Ambiance.
According to a WEB UPD8 post from july 2011, it is possible to install Faenza-styled icons on LibreOffice toolbar.
I can't install Faenza the traditional way on LO 3.5 (i.e., changing the toolbar icons from Crystal or Tango from inside the application's "Options" menu) and now those icons are broken.
Faenza was already installed but the update removed everything.
I downloaded the Faenza icon theme. I also installed the Advanced Settings app from the Software Centre. I double-clicked the Faenza install file and it opened a Terminal list of commands which I followed. Easy enough. Except that I noticed that you're supposed to install it as Root (so that it can copy the icon files into the file system rather than Home. If you don't install as Root, then a bunch of the icons aren't copied across.
This meant that it installed twice, as you can by the screenshot.
I simply want to remove the non-Root files but don't know where they copied to. Does anyone know where they would be?
