I have been trying to understand and use a PIC code called XOOPIC (https://ptsg.egr.msu.edu/) to simulate a gas discharge. XOOPIC is unfortunately rather lacking in terms of documentation, especially regarding output files. After running the code, I obtained some dump files in the .dmp format and am wondering if anyone with experience with this code could please tell me how to extract any useful data from the .dmp files (already read the accompanying dumpfile_format.txt, but still confused)?
I tried with Simple Screen Recorder, kazam, and others, but it doesn't work. In the recording, the background is completely dark and the only thing you can see is the mouse cursor.
Recently, my freecad encountered with a strange problem of being transparent. When I open it, there is no problem (image). But when I select to go to a specific workplace, say part, the window gets transparent, so that my desktop is visible on freecad backside(This is my desktop and this is freecad window).
I have removed and re-installed it but the problem persists. I also have to mention it is not a matter of opacity that can be controlled from teminal by something like: sh -c 'xprop...
As I understand it, Ubuntu uses lots of free (FOSS/FLOSS) software but often also some closed-source proprietary software, which is why Ubuntu is not included in the FSF list of Free GNU/Linux distributions.
While I'm not a fanatic about this, I do want to support the free software movement and use as much free software as possible. So I wonder: is there some way to get a list or overview of all non-free software and firmware that is used/installed on my Ubuntu system?
According to GNU, there are nonfree binary blobs in the Ubuntu kernel, presumably these are in linux-firmware
(in main) or linux-image-generic
(also in main)? If these blobs are non-free, whey are they included in main which only free software is allowed in?
I note that the Linux kernel is licensed under the GPL, how is this possible if the binary blobs included are not free software, how are they redistributable?
I came across this question whilst trying to remove a [citation needed] tag on Wikipedia.
