When I open Geary and try adding an email account via IMAP/SMPT I cannot add SSL/TLS or port information. If I simply type in my login information without additional SSL/TLS information, Geary cannot login. enter image description here

I found a screenshot on the internet which shows these options for Geary. However, I cannot see them.

i've a problem with my yahoo account and geary.

The problem is this: While all my gmail accounts are perfectly configureted, if i choose to use my yahoo account Geary it doesen't work.

Every time i try to set my account, i've the same warning: "account not created: check your email address and password" (i did, and they are correct).

It doesen't work also if i try to configure my account directly from the "Account Online" in the Ubuntu' settings, using the voice "IMAP and SMTP".

The strange things is that i've no problem using it with thunderbird.

Have you any ideas about this problem? i tried to search for bugs, regressions etc. but i've found nothing. Can you help me?

I'd like to use geary for his best integration with Gnome and his great look.

I used Thunderbird a while back, but I thought I'd switch to an email client that had a newer template and was easier to manipulate. I chose to use geary, but how do I activate the tray icon to receive notifications about new emails?

After installing the Evolution and Geary e-mail clients, Ubuntu desktop and application GUIs are messed up. See screenshot below for an example; as you can see, tabs are not separated anymore, and buttons (Revert, Close) are not drawn.

How can I restore the previous desktop/GUI appearance, without re-installing Ubuntu?

Things I have tried:

  • purge Evolution and Geary
  • purge and reinstall ubuntu-desktop (from console, CTRL+ALT+F1)
  • purge and reinstall unity (from console, CTRL+ALT+F1)
  • rm -rf ~/.compiz-1 ~/.config/compiz-1

Running Ubuntu 16.04 with its default desktop.

I've been having trouble lately with installing the daily build from geary. First of all, I did the following on my terminal, which would get me the latest daily build. Code:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:valateam/ppa 
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:yorba/daily-build
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get geary

Recently, Yorba has released Geary 0.3. But when I installed Geary, the About window shows me 0.2.2+ trunk when it should show 0.3. Perhaps, there is an issue with the package management. I ran this on Ubuntu 13.04 daily build, which updates fine.

I thought by uninstalling geary and installing from scratch would fix the problem, but it doesn't seem that straightforward.

sudo apt-get purge geary && apt-get autoremove

The code removes the app, but doesn't remove any configuration whatsoever. For instance, on a fresh install, my 4 email accounts that I set up were still there.

I really wish to run the daily build on my computer, and I don't want to be stuck with what really isn't 0.2.2+ trunk. How can I troubleshoot this issue and install the daily build? One solution I have is to reinstall the Ubuntu daily build, but I think it's unnecessary.
