I mounted a network disk using

smbclient -L //network_disk -U MYDOMAIN/myuser
sudo mount.cifs -v //network_disk/G ~/G  --verbose -o user=myuser,domain=MYDOMAIN

After that, I can't for example touch ~/G/temp10.txt but can sudo touch ~/G/temp10.txt
I tried to use sudo chown -R $USER ~/G. I waited about 5 minutes and it was still not finished. It seems the network disk is too large (24 TB) for me to use this function. Also, I tried sudo chgrp myuser ~/G. It didn't help.
I want to know how to access this network disk without sudo.

Also, if I use mount.cifs -v //network_disk/G ~/G --verbose -o user=myuser,domain=MYDOMAIN I have an error

mount.cifs: permission denied: no match for /home/myuser/G found in /etc/fstab

I have installed ubuntu 19.10 and I have mounted my drive in /etc/fstab like this:

//192.168.1.194/Katon /mnt/mycloud cifs noperm,username=username,password=password 0 0

However when I copy files to /mnt/mycloud and go to the network drive the files are not actually there. How do I sync it?

I've got a shared folder on a Windows computer, and I'd like to mount it on a server running Ubuntu Server.

How can I mount a samba drive from the command line?

This is a follow up on the question Prevent Nautilus / Nemo from creating .Trash-1000 folder in mounted devices. In essence, the creation of this folder is hard-coded in these programmes and can not be switched off. The wisest thing to do is not use these programmes to access network volumes.

Now I would like to delete the .Trash-1000 folder Nemo created on a network volume (Samba). It is taking up unnecessary space and confusing other users. However, this what I get when I try to do so:

$ rm -rf .Trash-1000/
rm: cannot remove '.Trash-1000/files/n00e005_dem.tif': Device or resource busy
rm: cannot remove '.Trash-1000/files/s50w080_dem.tif': Device or resource busy
rm: cannot remove '.Trash-1000/files/s45e145_dem.tif': Device or resource busy

Using sudo results in the same messages. How can I remove this folder from the volume?

P.S.: there is a previous question on how to delete this folder from a USB volume, but that is a different problem (and straightforward to solve).

On my Windows-10 machine, I have a Ubuntu app, which I use for handling files on my local PC. In order to do this, I have two mounting points (one for every harddisk, as you can see):

Ubuntu Prompt>mount
...
C: on /mnt/c type drvfs (rw,noatime,uid=1000,gid=1000)
E: on /mnt/e type drvfs (rw,noatime,uid=1000,gid=1000)

On my Windows-10 PC, I also have a network drive, as you can see in following WMIC result:

Windows Prompt>>wmic logicaldisk get Caption, Description
Caption  Description
C:       Local Fixed Disk
...
E:       Local Fixed Disk
H:       Network Connection
...

I am capable of mounting the H:-drive as a mounting point (which makes it easily accessible from my Ubuntu app), as you can see:

Ubuntu Prompt> sudo mount H: /mnt/h -t drvfs
Ubuntu Prompt> mount
...
C: on /mnt/c type drvfs (rw,noatime,uid=1000,gid=1000)
E: on /mnt/e type drvfs (rw,noatime,uid=1000,gid=1000)
H: on /mnt/h type drvfs (rw,relatime)

However, when I close the Ubuntu app and re-open it, the H:-drive related mounting point has disappeared:

Ubuntu Prompt> mount
...
C: on /mnt/c type drvfs (rw,noatime,uid=1000,gid=1000)
E: on /mnt/e type drvfs (rw,noatime,uid=1000,gid=1000)

// No H:-drive mounting point anymore!

Is there a way I can make this mounting point persistent?

I believe the one I need is the first one, but this one currently has following content:

Ubuntu prompt> cat fstab
LABEL=cloudimg-rootfs   /        ext4   defaults        0 0

This format is so different of the format within the first reply that I'm reluctant to use it (imagine I can't start up my Ubuntu app anymore, due to corrupted mounting points).

Can you confirm me that this is the right fstab indeed and that the mentioned format is correct?
