Gwenview used to play back mp4 video, but after 20.04 Ubuntu upgrade videos are no longer playing.
I tried installing these dependencies based on the info found here, but got E: Unable to locate package phonon-gstreamer-4.8.2-x86_64-1
What is missing? How can I get Gwenview to play mp4 files again? (VLC Video player works)
I installed Okular 1.10 via snap and, unlike the previous versions, it can't play videos embedded into pdfs due to the backend problem:
WARNING: bool Phonon::FactoryPrivate::createBackend() phonon backend plugin could not be loaded

No matter how hard I try to export QT_PLUGIN_PATH with all the libs installed by
sudo apt install phonon4qt5 phonon4qt5-backend-gstreamer phonon4qt5-backend-vlc
or
sudo apt-get install phonon-backend-vlc
it still yields the same error.
strace doesn't even help to find out where Okular is trying to search the backend for.
Any hints?
I install Okular via snap because the Ubunutu's repository has an old version with a bug which nobody takes care of, namely, crash after quitting presentation mode.
I have just installed Kubuntu 18.04 on an ASUS VivoMini UN65U without any problem except I can't use the usual audio minijack as an output. In Phonon configuration I only have the option to output through HDMI1 to HDMI4, no analog output.
aplay -l too lists only HDMI1 HDMI2 HDMI3 HDMI4 outputs.
How do I make the analog audio output jack work?
EDIT: solved just by keeping the system dist-upgraded in the following weeks.
Does anyone know what configuration file is modified when I change settings within this area of the system settings?
I keep choosing my Logitech USB Headset as the soundard, and, when I hit apply, it accepts that change and all is good. However, as soon as I close the system settings window, it loses the setting, so I have to leave it open all the time.
How can I make this setting permanent?
