I have managed to recover files from a disk with a damaged partition table using photorec. Photorec does not preserve the file name or file structure so all I have are a bunch of randomly named files such as 013892.ecryptfs 02189421.ecryptfs etc.
The original system had an encrypted home folder, and I know the login password. Is there any way to decrypt ecryptfs files?
Recently my memory card (Samsung Evo 64GB, almost full) was showing 'corrupt' on my Tablet. So I tried to recover the important details using photorec. It ran for around 1 hour but 0 files have been found.

I created a copy of my 1tb HDD drive from ddrescue and wanted to mount this IMG file to then recover data from Photorec.
How to mount an IMG file as if it was an actual HDD/pen drive inserted by USB. Please explain in detail as I'm getting the hang of ubuntu systems; used to use Windows.
I mistakely installed ubuntu over my 1tb drive removing essential data and photos which took about 5 mins to install, so I want to know if I can use ddrescue in Ubuntu to create a virtual image of the drive to and then use TestDisk/Photorec to recover lost data? Or is it more recommended to use testdisk straight on the HDD drive?
I have a Samsung smartphone, connected via USB cable with my HP laptop . I want to recover some of my deleted photos with photorec command form terminal. But while I give command $ cd /media/hp, I cannot see my phone memory, but it shows the pen drive. I want to know that how can I get my phone memory by command line.
