Questions[restart](ubuntu)

So I was configuring VS code on my Notebook when suddenly I noticed that my interface font got really small on my desktop, terminal and files.

I use Gnome Tweaks Tool to increase my scaling factor to 1,15 , but, even though it was active, the font stayed tiny.

The solution I found was moving my scaling factor, which instantly fixed my font issue, however, every time I restart my Notebook the font gets tiny again and I have to repeat the process.

I tried reseting my font configuration using this command, but had no success.

gsettings reset org.gnome.desktop.interface text-scaling-factor

I also tried using the command

dconf reset -f /

Finally, I tried using dconf-editor, but still had no success altering the font rendering DPI or changing the scaling factor.

All of the steps I mentioned fixed my fonts temporarily, but the issue still persists when I restart my Notebook

I am out of ideas and even considered getting a fresh Ubuntu install by now...

After a clean install of Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, I am experiencing very slow shutdowns , When I press esc the following are shown .

"A stop job is running for IIO sensor Proxy service (s /1min 32s)"

Gradually the time is increased. Are there any other people experiencing this ? What could be the reason behind this ?

While logged in as a sudo user, click the right top power icon, then select and click Shutdown menu, it comes up with a dialog asking if I want to close all programs. The dialog has two options: restart or shutdown. Choose either one logs me out. Syslog has the following line about restart:

WARNING: Unable to restart system: Authorization is required

This happened after I installed NTP and some OpenStack packages while working in a prototype project. My Ubuntu's software is up to date as of this writing.

Anyone encountered the same problem in 12.04?

Is It possible In Linux to restart only gui session or os ( i m not talking about restarting pc )

back in windows 98 if u want to restart the gui session or only os u just need to hold down shift key and it will restart the your gui session or only os & it work fine

windows 98 shift + restart

I want to change the OS hostname but I do not want to restart.

I have edited /etc/hostname but it requires a restart to get implemented. How to avoid this?
