Ubuntu 20.04 has decided we need 4 clicks to shut down:
Let's cut out at least 2 clicks here... how?
UPDATE: This is a "Lounge PC" - operated by mouse (no power button within reach as the laptop is closed). We watch a film, we want to click to shutdown and not type commands.
My Ubuntu 16.04 hangs on shutdown/restart requiring me to press and hold the power key to turn the machine off... I don't know how to report this as a bug and what commands to run to show the necessary hardware/sys log info? Any help would be hugely appreciated!
After a clean install of Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, I am experiencing very slow shutdowns compared with 15.10. There seems to be one of two processes that hang upon shutdown. Startup is not affected at all. When pressing (esc) the following are shown. Either:
"Stopping thermal daemon services" hangs, or "A stop job is running for remote CUPS printers available locally", before a timer to 1 min 30 seconds is up, after which the machine finally shuts down.
Are there any other people experiencing this? This is most odd. What could be the reasons behind these two hangs?
I've a home server I'm playing around with :) I want to learn server administration...
I have a hard time understanding the difference between shutdown -h now and poweroff -h now
My logic tells me it's the same thing...
But with the shutdown, Linux halts, and power stays on - I can see all lights up and cooler rotating. Strange, the only way to turn off my box completely is to use poweroff -h
Any clarification will be appreciated!
