I have a file named .sock in /var/spool/ dir.

Here is the result of ls -al /var/spool/

You can see the nethermind.sock file is marked as prw-r--r--.

I want to delete this file, so I write this in my script -

NETHERMIND_SOCK="/var/spool/nethermind.sock"
PARITY_SOCK="/var/spool/parity.sock"

if [ -f $NETHERMIND_SOCK ]; then
    rm -f $NETHERMIND_SOCK
elif [ -f $PARITY_SOCK ]; then
    rm -f $PARITY_SOCK
else
    echo ".sock not found"
fi

It always gives .sock not found I tried then to find and delete like -

sudo find / -type f -name "*.sock" -exec rm -f {} +

But it seems that the file is not findable.

If I do sudo find /var/spool/ -type f -name "nethermind.sock", It doesn't return anything.

I am not sure about mark p from here prw-r--r--.

Here is a link actually what p marked means. But find command is not able to find piped file.

When I try to install Ubuntu 20.04 on my Dell Inspiron 5558 laptop, I get can't open /dev/sr0: No medium found error when GRUB tries to load "Install Ubuntu 20.04".

I have seen similar kind of problem with Ubuntu 11.04 in this post: How do I fix “can't open /dev/sr0: No medium found” on USB boot?. But that didn't work for Ubuntu 20.04: in fact, I tried pressing F6 and my PC automatically checked some information and I was able to install Ubuntu 20.04 at first. But when I restarted my PC after installing, it still had that booting problem issue and pressing F6 didn't work then. Also txt.cfg file of Ubuntu 20.04 doesn't match with Ubuntu 11.04.

I have also tried using other Linux Distro ISO files, re-downloading the ISO files, changing my installation medium (pen drive), changing BIOS/UEFI boot mode and also resetting the CMOS to hard reset the BIOS, but none of those worked for me and I figured out that the problem is with my ISO file. But, I don't know how to solve this issue.

Previously, I have installed Ubuntu 18.04 in this same PC without any problem. But suddenly Ubuntu 18.04 installation also gives the same kind of error message (this also happens with other Linux Distros).

My PC was manufactured with Ubuntu as default OS, so I shouldn't get this type of error (but I don't know why I am getting this error). I will have to go back to Windows if this issue doesn't get solved because I can install Windows on my PC without any problem.

I'm using Kubuntu 18.04 and I'm trying to create a UBCD bootable memory stick. I think I have all the necessary files in the right places. Here's what I get:

/dev/sdb1: No such file or directory

Yet /dev/sdb1 does exist:

I can even mount to it:

total 8

So what do I need to do to get this to work?

I want to use Linux for the first time a requirement for my masters program. I have bought a laptop Lenovo T580 which came installed with Windows 10. My disk partition type is GPT and NTFS file system. I have downloaded Ubuntu 18.04 and created a bootable Ubuntu drive using this instructions.

Upon restarting windows and pressing f12 for boot menu then xlicking usb hdd , nothing happens. The same result with OpenSuse. I really need to install Linux but been cracking my head for two days through the forums but in vain.

What am I not doing right?
