When I press ctrl-alt-F1 (F2, etc), I get black screen with cursor. If I try to type anything, nothing happens: cursor doesn't move. If I hit "enter", nothing happens too. But I'm able to return to GUI with ctrl-alt-F7
I'm running ubuntu 16.04 LTS with latest updates.
Any ideas?
Everything works fine with 6 terminals using Ncomputing M300 clients with an I3 host (8 GB and 2 TB) running Vspacr L.3.2.2.27. But when I use Firefox, Opera or Thunderbird the systems logs off. (Splash Screen --- Ncomputing Press any key to start). I can log in again and use the other applications except the above web based applications.
How can I copy-paste following command:
rm -r ~/.gconf/apps/gnome-terminal
gconftools --recursive-unset /apps/gnome-terminal
into a virtual-terminal?
First I tried to upgrade to 12.04 and then tried a complete install.
Each seemed to progress correctly, but the same thing happened afterwards in each case.
When the system is rebooted, I see the Ubuntu screen and then the command line for a virtual tty terminal.

When using a virtual terminal with an external monitor, I would like to set the resolution to the monitors optimal resolution, but I'm not sure how. Does anyone know how I would go about doing this?
