I added powertop to /etc/sudoers (sudo visudo) but it doesn't work. I checked all possible problems I can imagine. What did I missed?

user@ellie:~$ whoami
user
user@ellie:~$ groups
user adm cdrom sudo dip plugdev lpadmin sambashare
user@ellie:~$ ll /etc/sudoers
-r--r----- 1 root root 1093 Feb  6 19:05 /etc/sudoers

user@ellie:~$ sudo powertop
[sudo] Passwort für user: 
user@ellie:~$ sudo cat /etc/sudoers | grep powertop
[sudo] Passwort für user: 
ALL ALL=(ALL:ALL) NOPASSWD: /usr/sbin/powertop
user@ellie:~$ which powertop
/usr/sbin/powertop
user@ellie:~$ BB

I am in group sudo, permissions seem to be ok, path to powertop checked. But you see, if I type in "sudo powertop" it ask for a password ?!? (In my first attempt the first "ALL" was just "user")

sudo powertop visudo

Can anyone please explain the exact work of these in /etc/sudoers ? (I've done some research, so please don't share any links)

I want to add myself (member of sudo) to execute a command without password.But it's again asking for password.

# User

    root  ALL=(ALL:ALL) ALL

    myself  ALL=(ALL:ALL) NOPASSWD:/bin/apt update, PASSWD:/bin/apt install*

# Groups 

    %sudo   ALL=(ALL:ALL) ALL
permissions sudo visudo

Ubuntu n00b here. I am tinkering with a Docker container that I created using the following simple Dockerfile:

FROM ubuntu
CMD ["tail","-f","/dev/null"]

Inside the container, as the root user, I try running visudo and get the following response:

bash: visudo: command not found

I ran ls /etc and it seems I don't have a sudoers file either.

Is there something special I should have put in my Dockerfile to make these exist?

I want to add a user account to sudoers.

I type in 

sudo usermod -aG sudo username

Then I reboot.

I type 

apt update

I get permission denied.

I type 

sudo apt update

Followed by account password and apt update runs.

I thought that adding things to sudoers allows me to run without specifying sudo and entering password?

Lost visudo

I seem to have lost visudo, to my great surprise. I'm trying to add to /etc/sudoers or /etc/sudoers.d but when I try and run visudo as root I get this

sudo: visudo: command not found

when I search I get this

whereis visudo 
visudo: /usr/share/man/man8/visudo.8.gz

So the packed file is there but for some reason was either not unpacked or has been lost. sudo works fine.

If I try visudo as a command I get this

visudo 
The program 'visudo' can be found in the following packages: 
 * sudo 
 * sudo-ldap 
Try: sudo apt-get install <selected package>

I'm unsure if trying sudo apt-get install sudo will solve the problem or just give more problems.
