I have a Ubuntu 20.04 PC that I am setting up as a Subversion server with Apache 2.4 web server to allow me to use the Ankh client plug-in with Visual Studio on a Windows 10 PC.

How do I fix the Unknown DAV provider: svn error reported by the Apache2 web server when I do a restart? I think it may be connected to an error I see, dpkg: error processing package libapache2-mod-svn, when doing a sudo apt reinstall subversion.

I originally had both Apache and Subversion installed and after making configuration file changes, it was working fine.

I then uninstalled and cleaned up both in order to redo the installation, documenting my procedure. I'm a bit hazy on the details however the basics were to:

• use sudo apt remove apache2 and sudo apt remove subversion
• remove some remaining directories such as /etc/apache2

The reinstall has not gone well. For some reason installation seems to have been partial as if the apt install command was finding components and assuming other components also already existed when they did not. In some cases using apt reinstall has fixed issues and in other cases I built configuration files by hand.

I am now at the point where Apache web server is working and serving pages. Subversion is also working from the command line in Ubuntu.

I am now having a problem with the DAV component of Apache for the Subversion interface not working.

I am seeing an error when I attempt to enable the several dav related modules.

On my main machine I am running Thunderbird with Lightning and have several CalDAV calendars connected. Furthermore there is also a CardDAV address book hooked up.

How can I transfer those CalDAV and CardDAV connections to a further machine?

To get the mentioned connections available on a second machine I have the following options:

1. Create all connections completely from scratch (-> annoying)
2. Copy the whole directory ~/.thunderbird to the new machine (-> impractical, because mail profiles would be copied as well)
3. Copy only necessary files for calendars and the address book to the new machine (-> desired)

I want to avoid setting it up by hand. So: Which files do I have to copy from ~/.thunderbird?

My guess is something like:

• File storage.db
• File prefs.js (only the lines with "calendar")
• Directory calendar-data

But where is the connection for CardDAV stored?

I'm trying to use Ubuntu Backup (ie. DejaDup) with Owncloud. I have an account with Owncube and made a folder in my root called 'backup-computer1' where I want my backups to go.

Under Settings in Owncloud, it says

WebDAV: https://owncube.com/files/webdav.php

Then I went to Ubuntu settings, Backup, the Storage tab, and selected WebDAV from the dropdown list, and entered the following settings:

• Server: owncube.com/files/webdav.php
• tick "Use secure connection (HTTPS)"
• Port: 443
• Folder: /backup-computer1
• Username: myowncubeusername

but it keeps telling me it can't find the hostname. When I entered the full webdav address (https://owncube.com/files/webdav.php) it just removed it from the form. What am I doing wrong?

When I attempt to copy a folder from a webdav server to a local disk using Nautilus, it copies what appeas to be a manifest file (xml with the directory listing etc..). With cadaver I get an empty file.

I would like to be able to recursively copy a whole directory tree. Does anyone know how I can do this?

ps: I'm using Ubuntu 11.04 with Nautilus 2.32.2.1 and Cadaver 0.23.3

I have ufw set up to allow samba connections, but this does not seem to allow files to be transferred through Ubuntu's "Personal File Sharing" using the Public folder. The share can be seen, but not accessed if the firewall is active. Are there extra ports that need to be opened?

The default ufw profile opens ports 137, 138, 139 and 445. To this, I've added 135 and 80, but so far, no joy. I do see connection attempts coming in on high ports (32K+) but these are blocked.
