I have an Intel NUC7i5BNH powering a 4k video wall. On boot, I have a startup command launching VLC media player and play a video on loop in full-screen.

This works fine, but after a period of time (anywhere from an hour to 4 hours), the screen goes white and the PC is unresponsive to keyboard or mouse input (except Alt F4), but when I single-press the power button, it pops up the 'Power Off, Restart' etc option box and I see VLC playing the video in the background. I can then cancel that and continue playing, but this is not workable obviously as this video wall will be unattended.

It looks like a hibernation issue, but I've gone through all the Power settings I can find. I've tried Ubuntu 16.04, 18.04 and 20. I've also updated to the latest BIOS. I've tried disabling hardware acceleration in VLC.

Any help or advice would be appreciated!

I'm using - Discription : Ubuntu 20.04.1 LTS Release : 20.04 5.0.4-48-generic

There is a problem, my pc sleeps out after sometime and when i try to waking it up, it shows white screen only. Nothing happens than.

Again i have to restart it and all tabs and apps get closed than it's so much time consuming to do on, off and restating all the apps again. Please help how to fix it..

The quarantine has got me trying new things, so I am a total noob here. Construction is much more my game.

I have an old (circa 2009) iMac with the Intel T7600 Core 2 Duo CPU at 2.33 GHz. I successfully installed Ubuntu 16.04 LTS on it, and in my pride removed the old OS X. (I have since successfully updated to 18.04 LTS 32 bit). Without understanding anything, I installed 32 bit architecture but now need 64 bit to run the school programs my kids need.

My research has led me to needing to do a fresh install of Ubuntu to get to 64 bit architecture. I have confirmed that my processor will run 64 bit by running the 'lscpu' command in terminal and getting this feedback:

I created a boot DVD for 18.04 LTS 64-bit but when I boot my computer with the dvd in the drive, it stops at a white screen. I can hear the dvd drive spinning but it locks here and won't go any farther. I thought maybe my disc was bad, so I made another. No luck. I tried my original 16.04 LTS dvd that I originally did my install with. No luck. I tried making a 16.04 LTS 64 bit dvd. No luck.

How can I get my computer to get to the boot menu so that I can make the change to 64 bit architecture?

I have an XPS 13 9380 which was working quite well. In the last few days I cannot boot it anymore. When booting I end up in a white screen with some rubbish in the upper left corner.

I have manage to boot it in safe mode but I cannot work out yet where it is failing when booting in normal mode.

• Are there any known issues in the last week that affect XPS 13?
• any tips for diagnosing this kind of problems?

I have a laptop Acer Aspire 4741G with spec: Core i3 350M 2.26 Ghz Processor 2 GB DDR3 Nvidia 310M Graphics Card

I installed Ubuntu desktop 18.04.02 bionic beaver from a USB stick successfully but after about 30 minute my screen starts to turn white completely. so i turn it off forcefully and after turn it on it's all white from the starts (even no Acer logo).

i tried to connect it to another monitor, it's not show white screen but still no acer logo to enter BIOS and directly show Ubuntu booting logo. after booting in my other monitor just show purple screen, the cursor still work but i can't do anything else.
