Questions[xinput](ubuntu)

I can't believe I've spent almost 2 hours looking for an answer to work for me - but I couln't find oune. I know this has been asked before numerous times - but no solution seems to work for my mouse (wireless Mouse + Keyboard (single dongle) by Microsoft).

The problem is that the scroll is way too fast, but when I remove and insert the dongle back, now the scroll is way too slow :(.

now, as you can't see, there no: 'Device Accel Constant Deceleration', and also no "Evdev Scrolling Distance" which are some properties I've read that I should change in order to get what I wan't.

Needless to say that when I do as suggested in other answers I get:

$ xinput set-prop 11 "Evdev Scrolling Distance" 8 1 1

I just newly bought an ASUS laptop. The touchpad works fine on Windows, then I installed Ubuntu 18.04. The touchpad however does not work.

• touchpad works fine on Windows 10
• touchpad does not work on a live ubuntu USB
• fn key works on Ubuntu
• touchpad including left/right click does not work on Ubuntu 18.04
• touchpad does not seem to show up on xinput

As you can see my touchpad is not detected at all, nor is it even detected as some "generic mouse". I'm surprised that the fn key works tho.

Of course I tried the "fn + f10" combo to enable the touchpad, no luck.

Any help appreciated, I really need to use my touchpad. I'm now using a wireless mouse. I can post more specs if necessary.

I am trying to disable the touchscreen on my Asus S200E laptop. In Ubuntu 16.04, I was able to do so with this:

Is there an alternative to xinput on Wayland? I realised one of my gnome-shell-extension does not work properly due to the fact that xinput gives limited information about the devices under wayland (of course because it is written to work on xorg).

Now my question: Is there an alternative with similar features on wayland?

Current system is Ubuntu 17.10 on Dell Latitude 5580

Since UIM didn't want to play ball after installing Ubuntu 12.04 from scratch, I tried IBus, since that's the IME framework that's coming with Ubuntu by default.

However, ibus-table-compose is a pain in the butt to use because just to enter one character I need to press the key combination to trigger IBus first, enter the respective compose sequence, then press the IBus key combination again to disable it. Instead of that I'd rather like to keep my compose key functionality as provided by XIM, since that requires fewer keystrokes.

The problem is, though, that when the default input method is set to IBus and IBus is deactivated so that (AIUI, since I started it with ibus-daemon --xim) it is bypassed in favor of XIM, the settings in ~/.XCompose seem to be overridden by IBus's own version, so e.g. Compose c a doesn't give ą (a-ogonek) as I defined in the .XCompose file in my home directory, but ǎ (a-hacek), as defined by some other settings.

I've grown quite accustomed to my own mnemnonics, so is there any way to make my system use my own ~/.XCompose file with the default input method still being set to IBus so that IBus will still work e.g. in OpenOffice and other applications that don't let you choose the input method with a context menu?
