Hi
I have the need to be able to install an extension that I made myself for Firefox in ubuntu but without a graphic terminal so I need to be able to install the extension without the need for user interaction
I want to do this because I am working with dockers and I do not have a graphical interface to be able to interact with my container that has the Ubuntu system image. And therefore I cannot use beyond commands to interact with ubuntu in my docker container.
try to use the Firefox command:
firefox -install-global-extension /path/to/extension
But it also requires user interaction so that it can accept the installation of the extension.
I found this post but I do not understand how to make the installation automatic because loading the .xpi to the folder with the extensions does not install in Firefox
first time here! I'm having a problem and I need HELP
I installed an add-on to dim my screen for the night, but the result was not so satisfying, the screen went automatically black, no way of seeing anything.
Then anytime I try to login to my user, the add-on is already running and I can't see anything, so no use for my Ubuntu anymore. Ofc, silly me, I don't remember the name of the add-on either, so I can't even search it with the "apt-cache search" command in the recovery boot. Well, I tried to search "dimmer" and "dimme", that had no result, and "dim", which had so many results I couldn't find anything useful.
Anyone have an idea about how to fix this without having to reinstall the entire Ubuntu?
I'm seeing an issue where Firefox addons with a button in toolbar can't be used if the addon contains text fields for passwords. These same addons work fine on my Windows machine, so I believe the issue is somehow connected to Firefox on Ubuntu.
I have several addons in toolbar, and all of them work fine except for those that require a login. When I click on a broken addon, its window opens briefly then immediately disappears, making it impossible to login.
One of my misbehaving addons is for a password manager. Because this addon is made available through the Firefox sidebar tool, I can use the sidebar to login. Once logged in, the toolbar piece of the addon works just fine.
Addons that require a username and password to log in have interesting behavior. If I click in the username text field, I can add text, but the moment I click in the password field, the window closes. I have other addons that have fields for text entry, but none of those fields asks for a password, and they work fine.
To address this problem, I've tried purging Firefox and deleting all config files. I reinstalled only one addon, one of the misbehaving ones, and it still exhibits the same problem.
I'm completely stumped on troubleshooting steps. Where should I look to find more information about what could be the source of this problem.
I am forced to use MS Office 2010 through Wine
in order to colaborate with my colleagues who all use MS Office. I would like to know if, and how I can install Plugins for Word in Wine. Specifically I need the Mendeley Plugin
(citation software) and the Grammarly Plugin
(grammar correction). A general solution that helps me to figure it out myself would be welcome as well.
I saw this post detailing how to install the Jedox
Plugin for Excel in Wine. So I think, that in theory, this should be also possible for other Plugins, however, information and tutorials are extremly sparse.
Please do not suggest me LibreOffice
as an alternative. I am trying to use the LibreOffice
workaround for several years now and I have constantly problems with the compatability. This is especially the case for using Mendeley citations which are not correctly imported and exported.
