I recently updated from Ubuntu 18.04.4 to 20.04.1. Although Caffeine Indicator is listed in the Startup Applications ...

... it does not automatically appear in the top status bar after I log-in. This worked in the former Ubuntu version.
Is there something I can do about it?

Environment

• Caffeine Indicator version: 2.9.4
• Window manager: Gnome 3.36.3
• Desktop environment: ubuntu-wayland
• Linux distribution: Ubuntu 20.04.1

Analysis

Starting the application from the shell produces the following output:

Tried to install caffeine, and it's not working.

I have Kubuntu 18.10, KDE Plazma 5.14.4

Do this way

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:caffeine-developers/ppa
sudo apt-get install caffeine

And from default Kubunto repository ubuntu-cosmic-universe with the same result.

Caffiene version on both variant was 2.9.4-1

After launch caffeine-indicator and activate from tray.

If I try to run caffeine from KDE menu, nothing happened, no window opened.

If run from console its runs without any output and without window, but don't work.

Ubuntu 18.04 Thinkpad X1 Carbon 5th Gen

When I click the shutdown button in the menu bar, Ubuntu occasionally hangs for ~30 seconds before opening the Shutdown/Reboot/Cancel window. I haven't been able to find a culprit and I haven't found another post with this exact problem. I replicated the problem and captured the system log for the period of time that the computer was frozen below. 16:12:09 was before I clicked the shutdown button and it hung until about 12:42. The final line from 12:47 was after I regained control of the computer.

When this happens, I can ctrl+alt+F1, which returns me to the login screen and I can ctrl+alt+F7, but it doesn't open a terminal that I can interact with. I can still move the mouse, but I can't click on anything or type anything.

Any suggestions of how to fix this problem?

When I right click on the caffeine indicator and click activate nothing happens. It has worked fine up to now.

I'm running Ubuntu Budgie 18.04.

I tried terminating the processes (caffeine and caffeine indicator) then re-running them, but it didn't work.

When I want to shutdown my PC I click the top right corner and then press the power button after which a dialog pops up with the options: power off, restart, cancel.

Normally this pop up shows up right away. But since a week or so it takes about 30 seconds. During that time I can move my mouse but I can't open applications or do anything else.

When I cancel and try it again, it does open right away.

I didn't change settings or install weird stuff, only some updates of my icon theme. (I apparently had installed the Caffeine extension).

What could be the cause? And how can I diagnose this issue and see what it taking so long?
