On Ubunto Focal Fossa 20.4, for most of the apps, for example by searching for VeraCrypt and pressing Enter, Ubuntu displays a notification at the top of my screen which says something like "VeraCrypt is ready". I have to click on this notification so that the app I wanted to open comes to the foreground. Is there a way to change this default behavior?
The program for statistical analysis PSPP is very important for research, i concluded my post-graduation with it, using Ubuntu 19.10, but it's not present in the Ubuntu 20.04 LTS repository, so we can install it easily. Why?
I feel like a failure for not being able to find the answer on the internet. There must have been someone in history of internet asking this. But I couldnt, so here we go:
I have an old macbook air with macOS and ubuntu installed on the same hard drive. This macbook has 64GB internal SSD so little for my engineering work, I need heavy apps installed on the machine, so I bought a 512GB nvme SSD to have this extra space for apps and personal files obviously.
How could I have linux on the internal SSD being able to have its apps files installed on the external SSD?
I think the question would be how to have the root for all the system libraries in the internal SSD and app binaries on external SSD? Please correct me if Im wrong and please give the most information I want to learn linux. Maybe Im a hard head for informatics.
Installing apps on separate hard drive This answer is poor and I think doesnt relate directly to my problem as I need /usr to be on a diferent drive? If my terminology is wrong please correct me.
I have minetime (latest version) launching to run in background after startup in Xubuntu 18.04. I want to see my calendar, but I don't need the notifications which display 10 minutes before the event.
I can start a config to enable/disable notifications for some applications with xfce4-notifyd-config but minetime isn't displayed there. The app isn't installed using apt or dpkg; I run it directly from /home/user/bin .
As soon as I start slack app(snap) I get logged out of my user in Ubuntu 18.04.
I will provide more info if I can check things before it logs me out. Can you please suggest how I check for some logs and also how to fix this issue.
Here is a dmesg
output after logging back in -> https://pastebin.com/uzqXUe1C
