I just updated my main machine to Kubuntu 24.10 (kernel 6.11). The upgrade did not go perfectly smooth (mainly due to the Plasma session crashing during the process), but it seems to have gone through. My problem is that the displaylink driver does not seem to work.

sudo apt install displaylink-driver

displaylink-driver is already the newest version (6.1.0-17).

I can not find release notes for version 6.1 of the driver to check if the kernel is supported or not. Anyone had luck with displaylink on 24.10?

I have a 2019 Dell XPS 13 2-in-1 7390 connected to Dell D6000 docking station and using Dell SE2719HR secondary monitor. The dock uses DisplayLink technology, for all it matters. My Ubuntu version is 20.04.

When I enable Night Light, it is only displayed on the laptop's built-in monitor. Even when I close the lid (which turns off the built-in monitor), Night Light still isn't displayed in the external monitor.

I've tried mirroring displays, extending displays, setting external display as only one active, nothing helped. I went through this topic here and all suggested solutions, none helped either.

Is this a bug of some sort, or am I doing something wrong?

I recently upgraded to Ubuntu 18.04 and now my multi-monitor setup with DisplayLink is no longer working properly.

CPU usage is almost at 100% all the time where DisplayLinkManager is using about 80% of it.

Did some one managed to setup DisplayLink on Ubuntu 18.04 and got it working smooth? I would love to play videos on the second screen like I could before.

I am using a Zenbook ux31a.

I have a DisplayLink-based external USB monitor, which has both power and data over USB, and seems to work perfectly under Windows 7, but only can display a text console under Ubuntu 10.10, and that I can only use when I am actually switched to it. So the only Use I can have so far is to have some text-based monitoring or console that I can watch while working on the graphic display.

I know there are some development done for DisplayLink, but I never could get it to actually run properly.

Yes, I tried the detailed setup described in other posts, but they did not work, and instead crashed my X that I had to restore.

Okay, I just got a Lilliput 7" USB Monitor:

Unfortunately, I am having some trouble getting it to work in Ubuntu.

It is a DisplayLink device, so it should work in Ubuntu.

Any tips or advice would be appreciated!

Update: I discovered that X11 was having trouble finding the displaylink_drv.so module, so I fixed that. Then my XServer completely crashed. (Segmentation fault, I believe.)

Now I'm really confused.
