The last kernel for 14.04 LTS is 3.13.0-170, and the latest kernel for 14.04 ESM is 3.13.0-184. Where can I find the changelog for ESM kernels and packages to understand what has been fixed in these newer releases?
I'd like to know the exact steps that need to be taken to get Ubuntu 16.04 LTS support past April 2021 through to the year 2024.
I've read about Extended Security Maintenance (ESM) and this sounds like a viable option.
Can anyone spell out the exact steps that need to be taken and what costs if any are incurred?
I'm unclear whether ESM (Extended Security Maintenance) for Ubuntu is actually free for personal use, or is it always a paid solution?
I have run into a strange situation I was hoping someone could help with. I have an audit being run on our appliance running Ubuntu 12.04 ESM. I am told the the ESM version of Ubuntu is installed but I need to prove this to our Secuirty audit team.
Does anyone know of a command or way to prove that ESM is installed?
ESM is available for 12.04, which enables Ubuntu Advantage customers to keep receiving kernel updates and updates for many user space packages. In our case it's very important to know if we'll be able to use Ubuntu 14.04 safely after April 19, because it is not possible to upgrade our application and migrate it to say, 16.04.
