I'm trying to install fingerprint-gui on my Lenovo Ideapad 520 having Ubuntu 20.04 on which fingerprint isn't working for now.

I tried going directly to Settings → Users → Automatic login and enabled the fingerprint login, but the error is:

Could not access any fingerprint readers Please contact your system administrator for help!

I also tried to install Fingerprint GUI:

sudo apt-add-repository ppa:fingerprint/fingerprint-gui && sudo apt-get update 
sudo apt-get install libbsapi policykit-1-fingerprint-gui fingerprint-gui

but encountered this error:

E: Package 'policykit-1-fingerprint-gui' has no installation candidate
E: Package 'fingerprint-gui' has no installation candidate

What could be the problem here?

I saw an OMG Ubuntu article about Ubuntu offering fingerprint support. But I do not see any such option in 20.04.

Is it really possible to login using fingerprint scan in 20.04? If yes, how?

I'm using a Lenovo Thinkpad e580 with Ubuntu 18.04

I tried fingerprint-gui but it says "no devices found!".

lsusb command results this:

I tried a few online solutions, but I'm not able to find proper driver support for my system.

I found this link for Lenovo Thinkpad L390, it also has the same fingerprint device and it is certified by the ubuntu, given all hardware support.

As I understand the driver support is available for Synaptics, Inc. 06cb:00a2, but I'm not able to find it.

Please help me in figuring this out.

I'm on 18.04 and have successfully enabled fingerprint login. I would like to use my fingerprint not only to login but if possible also to:

1. Authenticate in the terminal when I do a sudo command
2. Authenticate in Gnome (i.e. when installing an application etc)
3. Unlocking keyring items (this is the only point I could find info about and apparently this one is not possible)

I have a fingerprint reader on my Dell Vostro. Does anyone know of any proper Fingerprint reader which can integrate with LightDM? I have heard of Fingerprint GUI but that works with GDM as per the development notes. It would be great if someone can let me know.
