wondering whether there is any method to monitor wifi and ethernet internet data consumption (up and down separately) and log it. I am trying to calculate daily, weekly and monthly data consumption for Wifi and Ethernet. If possible, per session too.
I see that the System Monitor already display the Sent and Received data. Wondering if any method exists to get data like that and log it. A shell script or Python. I know a bit of Python, thanks.
PS: Using 22.04
Is it possible to make Rhythmbox start from where it was when closed the last time? I have a music file that is close to 2 hours and I would like to resume from where I left. I have a few more files like 40 minutes, 90 minutes etc which I am trying to do the same. Sadly, I have to start from the beginning each time I start Rhythmbox. I am using Ubuntu 22.04.

When I try to install VirtualBox 7 on 22.04, it is asking to add MOK to the firmware while reboot. Is it safe to do so? I have an HP laptop with Secure Boot enabled.
Will it change the firmware permanently? I have dual boot Windows 10 on the same laptop.

It is really helpful that there is a low battery warning, which can be customised. But there is no warning when the battery is full. If left unattended, it will cause battery wear. Is there any method to get a warning when the battery charge has reached 95% or 100%?
I am using 22.04.
I upgraded from 21.10 to 22.04. Everything was fine. But when I changed the wallpaper, all my desktop icons are gone now. I see a plain desktop with wallpaper and icons dock.
How can I bring back the desktop icons? Thanks.

In 21.10, when I try open a file, I could see a thumbnail preview on the right. This was true with Firefox, GIMP and Inkscape.
Sadly, after upgrading to 22.04, all I got are file names and an image icon in Nautilus.
Is it possible to somehow see which file we are adding to Firefox, GIMP etc as a thumbnail preview as available in 21.10 and earlier? Thanks.
I have my own cursor theme which works almost everywhere else inside 21.10. But inside Firefox, I see that the cursor falls back to default. Is there any method to make sure that the cursor remains the same inside Firefox as well ?

I saw an OMG Ubuntu article about Ubuntu offering fingerprint support. But I do not see any such option in 20.04.
Is it really possible to login using fingerprint scan in 20.04? If yes, how?
I have a 4GB RAM laptop. During last week, my system was freezing a lot. When I checked the stats, it said 2 GB or RAM and 1 GB cache is in use. The load is some 1.2 or similar. So I reinstalled 18.04 and a couple of regular programs. But even with everything closed, the zero used session still shows 2 GB RAM consumption is system load indicator. Please check the screenshot below.
I want to know whether this a normal thing or I should be worried about my hardware. Thanks.
A little background info. Before this fresh install of 18.04, I had an incomplete AMPPS install. Also Inkscape ( which I installed from PPA ) was crashing every now and then during last 2 weeks.

I use Ubuntu 18.04 with VLC 3.0.7. Since some time ago, I am not able to automatically download subtitles through VLC. I have to use the Click here to open the file option in the error dialogue and download them using Firefox. The subtitles were supposed to be automatically downloaded to the folder in which the video file is located.
I tried setting folder permissions using chmod as 777 and 755. Both failed. Any help will be great.

I use system monitor with 16.04 in Unity. Currently, I get all the graphs and text indicator for Disk on top panel. I want to have net speed displayed instead of Disk. How can I do that ?
I normally get English subs for certain movies. I want to translate them to my regional language. Is there any subtitle editor for 16.04 using which I can open an .srt file and edit it to replace English text to that of my choice ?
In short, I am looking a program which can open .srt files as text and allows editing the text and saving them

In Windows, sfc /scannow will check the system files with those available in OS disk and replace faulty, missing files. Is there anything similar available for Ubuntu 16.04 ?
I use Unity in 16.04. For some reason, I am not getting popup notifications for low battery. I have to rely on battery icon in top panel to see if battery is on the " low battery " side. Is the default behaviour in 16.04 ? Or I am not getting pop ups for low battery ?
I am not able to copy paste using keyboard shortcuts (CTRL+V and CTRL+C). It is not working globally on my Ubuntu 16.04. CTRL+A is working fine however. How can I fix it? I would be able to add a custom shortcut? If yes, please tell me how. Thanks.

I have only one keyboard layout (hopefully US English).
I cannot find any options which list CTRL+V and CTRL+C in keyboard shortcuts. As a matter of fact, I cannot see anything that has copy or paste among keyboard shortcuts.
CTRL+⇧ Shift+C/V is also not working on Gnome Terminal.
