I installed ubuntu 20.04 2 days ago, but yesterday I started having this weird bug where I get a duplicate dash.
It started happening more frequently. Usually when I log out and log back in it comes back to normal, and even if I simply ignore it, it usually comes back to normal as well.
I'm not sure if it's due to any changes I did on the dash? I simply disabled the extended option. I'm not really sure why this happens but it's frustrating.

On ubuntu 20.04 (with gnome), how do you control where a window will open when an application is launched from the dock?
I'm using dash-to-dock and have the dock on both monitors. Some applications (like the terminal) seem to always launch on the same monitor as the dock I am clicking on. This is what I want.
Other applications (like chrome and thunderbird) sometimes open on the other monitor and then I need to drag them back to the monitor I started on.
I've checked "Isolate workspaces" and "Isolate monitors" in the dash-to-dock settings and don't see anything else that looks like it would help? Am I missing something?
I saw some post about making a given application always open on the same monitor, but that is not what I want.
Is there a way to have applications always launch on the same monitor the launcher was clicked on?
I'm an avid vanilla ubuntu user (19.04) I've recently switched to budgie desktop environment.
after some tuning using the "Budgie desktop Setting" app (which is basically "Tweaks" such as "gnome-tweaks", but for budgie, I've gotten rid of Plank and tuned my Panel by adding "Icon task list" for one...), I've obtained what I want : this -> https://github.com/vinceliuice/Qogir-theme#screenshots
However I can't really adapt to the mint / cinamon / windows xp start menu. I've pretty much been onboard with the fullscreen search / "synapse" approach since day one.
and the start menu we've had in ubuntu since ubuntu's adopted gnome is pitch perfect to me.
Am I dreaming too much if I want to ally the best of both worlds (budgie & ubuntu-gnome start/search) ?
I'm running Ubuntu 18.04 with GNOME. When I hit Super+1, the first program in my left favorites bar, aka Ubuntu Dock (in my case, Firefox) starts up. If I hit Super+1 again, it switches to the existing Firefox instance. I would like it to start a new Firefox process instead.
I followed the instructions in this question, which works if I go into the launcher by hand, but it doesn't work for the keyboard shortcuts Super+1, etc. Also, it seems that Super+1 is not listed as a keyboard shortcut in the settings, so I can't simply override the binding myself. How can I get a new process to start when I hit Super+Number, for Number from 1 to 9?
I know there are similar questions to this already however I've followed them and I'm still experiencing some trouble. I'm trying to theme the show app grid icon in the dock with this icon https://github.com/gusbemacbe/suru-plus/blob/master/Suru++/apps/64/ubuntudash.svg
However, when I replace the view-app-grid-symbolic.svg file with it I either get a blank white icon or no icon at all. Any help would be appreciated.
I'm using the suru++ icon theme and it would be awesome to have all the icons in the dock uniform including the show apps launcher.
