Questions[tcl](ubuntu)

Trying to use Globus Personal Connect on my Ubuntu 16.04, and it requires Tcllib. I have tcllib installed (the newest version), but it still says "Tcllib not found" when I try to access the Globus Connect via "./globusconnect" command.

Any ideas on how to deal with this issue?

I am not able to change the font family of the label in tkinter.

I have written the code to explain the issue. I have also attached a link to show the output. When these same fonts are ran using Python it's acting weirdly. As you can see how most of the fonts which were looking different using TCL codes are becoming the same font with Python (even though some fonts change).

I also removed tcl/tk and reinstalled (8.6 version) them. Even then it's of no use. Or is there any way that I can add more fonts to the tcl/tk?

I have a problem with a Tcl/Tk application, redet, and Ubuntu 18.04. I installed it in 17.04, using synaptic so that all its dependencies were pulled in. It continued to work in 17.10. After upgrading to 18.04 it failed to start with the following error messages.

Although everything was unchanged, so I believe all dependencies were satisfied, I tried installing redet on a different machine with 18.04 installed using synaptic. All the same dependencies were pulled in, but when I tried to run redet I got the same error message. Googling, this problem appeared in the past on several message boards related to Tcl/Tk, but there is no obvious soution that I could understand. The only question I could find on AskUbuntu (Q: Problem to install fv tool) didn't have any responses.

I was wanting to tinker around with TCL/TK programming.

I tried to invoke the wish shell, but got this error:

$ wish
The program 'wish' is currently not installed. You can install it by typing:
sudo apt-get install tk

So, I tried to apt-get install tk:

But it's already installed...

Where did wish go?

UPDATE:

I installed some python-tk packages and now I have wish, but I don't know which package provided it.

And now, due to the python-tk packages, when I run the which command I get:

Lastly, here's where it gets interesting, I asked dpkg who is providing /bin/wish:

tk: /usr/bin/wish

I can only imagine than something was corrected during the install of the python-tk packages... Otherwise, I'm stumped... But at least it's working now...

I'm trying to install something that uses Tcl and it requires the config file tclConfig. I've installed tcl via sudo apt-get install tcl8.5 but after doing a search there isn't such a file.

Did I miss a step somewhere?
