On Ubuntu 20.04, are there fractional scaling options for scales over 200% (e.g. 225% or 250%)? I currently see

• the basic options of 100%, 200%, 300%, 400%,
• fractional scaling options between 100% and 200%

My issue is that the 100-200% displays appear way too small for my Lenovo Thinkpad laptop (for screenshots, please see On Ubuntu 20.04 (Lenovo Thinkpad), display scale of 100% is tiny, 200% is still small), while 300% is a bit on a larger side, hence 225/250% would've been perfect, but I wonder if there's some workaround to get such fractional displays.

Just got a Lenovo Thinkpad, installed Ubuntu 20.04, and below are the screenshots of my full screen when checking the display scale options for

• 100% scale: as you may see, the font/symbols are insanely tiny

• 200% scale: still pretty small, hence I had to roll with 300% (which is on a larger side, but there's no option for fractional scaling at 250%, it's only available between 100 and 200)

Does anyone know why that is happening? Why is scale of 100% looking so tiny as opposed to being a reasonable option as usual? Is it likely to be a Lenovo issue rather than Ubuntu 20.04? I'd used Ubuntu 16.04 & 18.04 on Dell before (not 20.04 though), and it was never an issue. Or maybe it's due to resolution?

and feel free to delete if it doesn't bring any new value, but given that quite a while has passed + there were people describing experiences with their systems crashing after trying to fully copy /home directory, I just wanted to re-ignite the topic for a second.

I have an old Dell with Ubuntu 18.04 installed on it clean (not dual boot), and I just got a Lenovo where I installed Ubuntu 20.04 clean as well. I wonder if there's a set of folders that are believed to be really safe to simply copy into the new system? Besides the obviously harmless stuff like basic text files (with notes), spreadsheets, pictures, videos etc etc

E.g. could I copy the bin folder? snap folder? 3rd party installations (e.g. in my case folders containing R/Python programming software)? What about "hidden" folders (like "./config")?

It's just that I do have a fear of trying to use black-box cloning options, while I also don't mind spending time re-building the system from ~0ish. The reason why is because it's not like I've exactly built an empire on the old laptop due to the following: last Fall I tried to update from 16.04 up to 18.04, and it crashed the system without the ability to recover (yeah, I didn't back it up, the lesson was learnt), so I haven't really had a chance to over-customize it too much since then. Hence, you might also understand my PTSD about this occurrence, triggering unwillingness to upgrade my old system to 20.04 for the sake of better compatibility (albeit I'm backing it up).

Trying to use Globus Personal Connect on my Ubuntu 16.04, and it requires Tcllib. I have tcllib installed (the newest version), but it still says "Tcllib not found" when I try to access the Globus Connect via "./globusconnect" command.

Any ideas on how to deal with this issue?

The outlook of my Ubuntu 16.04 menu changed completely and unexpectedly after a reboot.

It used to have a side-menu of items on the left, with instant access to search bar (top icon of that sidebar): Menu outlook before reboot \

Now it disappeared and is subbed by that tiny "Activities" option on top left, and simply a different top menu bar: Menu outlook after reboot \

What might've happened and how do I bring the original outlook back?
