When I change the volume inside a pulse-audio client like VLC , the output volume in the pavucontrol->Output Device->Built-in Audio analog Stereo
gets adjusted accordingly. So when I increase the volume inside VLC , the effect gets boosted and increases dramatically which is too loud even in 50% volume and vice versa.
Furthermore Volume up
and Volume down
system shortcuts increase the VLC volume beside increasing the system's. Looks like they're kind of locked to each other.
I use PulseAudio
11.1 in ubuntu bionic.
How can I unlock that?
I wanted to start jack server with the command
sudo jackd -r -d alsa -r 44100
But I got the following errors :

I tried the solutions here and here .Those Didn't work for me.
I use jackd version 1.9 with linux kernel 5.3 in ubuntu bionic.
Is there a way to use laptop's internal speaker (temporarily) without unplugging the headphone ?
When I plug the headphone (to be precise , earphone) , the option Speakers
gets unavailable from the PavuControl
's Output devices
.
OS : Kubuntu 20.04
Pavucontrol : 4.0
Kernel : 5.4
Any help is appreciated.
I want to change the KDE Widget Style
via command-line (because my systemsettings5
crashes while opening and I suspect one of the installed themes so I want to change it via command-line).
I was unable to find anything useful in ~/.config
and some qdbus
paths.
I know the name of the desired theme , but I don't know the required path in qdbus
.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
After a few minutes of working with Blender 2.82 I noticed high memory usage (i.e almost 4GBs which is 1/4 of my RAM) from Xorg
process in my system. After closing the blender though, the situation didn't change at all.
I currently use Kubuntu 20.04 and I've seen similar problem in Ubuntu studio 19.04
again with blender.
Have somebody seen a similar problem with other programs or is it perhaps a bug in the blender itself?
I use Nvidia GeForce GT 740 with driver 440 installed.
Thanks.

How can I grant access to an additional directory (e.g not /home/user) to a snap package?
There is no slot available for directories other than :desktop
and :home
in snap connections
.
Is it possible at all?
What is the technique used by snap to sandbox programs in Strict confinement
?
How much isolation does it provide ?
Does it make use of chroot
, apparmor
, etc. ?
When I run this command :
apt install libkf5*
I get the following error :
Unable to locate package libkf5*
I'm sure that the packages whose names start with libkf5
exist (tab-completion says so) . So the problem is not about the absence of those packages.(Note the asterisk at the end of that error message , the wildcard's not working at all)
I use apt
v.1.9.
Thanks in advance.
I want to compile and install KWin Blur effect plugin to change the maximum possible blur.
The maximum value of the slider is set here and I want to change that.
But I don't know how to install that plugin?(with which tool and in which directory?)

KWin & plasmashell : 5.12
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.

Is there any way to apply Kvantum themes to Gtk applications in Kubuntu 18.04?
Why do toolbars of some programs like Firefox
get showed up in the Global menu
of KDE and some like GIMP
do not?(Also I had a similar experience in unity DE)
I want to know the programmatic difference in terms of the tools present in toolkits like Qt or Gtk.

How to move latte-dock to another display?
Latte-settings->Behavior->Location->Screen

After some searching , I didn't find any standard way to release GPU memory that is allocated to Tensorflow. So I want to know is there a way to manually shrink VRAM objects that are no longer needed without actually rebooting?(It has hugged almost all of my VRAM)
It's the duty of the OS to release system memory after process termination , but it cannot release GPU memory since it has been controlled by the DMA and the graphics driver.
OS : Ubuntu 18.04
Driver : nVidia 430
GPU : GeForce GT 740M
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
