I am using Ubuntu 18.04 on Dell Vostro 3546.

uname -a

I want to play Among Us. I followed the instructions of this video.
But as you know we need to first enter name to play, but MY KEYBOARD IS NOT WORKING !!!. FYI, when i use folio views (using wine) keyboard works.
What I have tried (with no luck):

  1. In winecfg enabling emulate a virtual desktop
  2. In winecfg disabling allow the window manager to control the windows
  3. In regedit creating new entry "UseTakeFocus" with value "N" in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Wine\X11 Driver

Please help me. Thanks in advance.

I am using Ubuntu 18.04 on Dell Vostro 3546

I am having severe wine dependency problems. This started when I did sudo apt-get purge wine*. I am not able to install it back. Please help, wine is very essential for me.

  1. 32-bit architecture is enabled

    If I choose "Y" in the first prompt it will do nothing and just exit. Then, in the second prompt if I choose "Y" it completely ruins my system by removing everything. If I choose "n", then it will ask again and again to do the same thing. Had to "q" abort.

I am using Ubuntu 18.04 on Dell Vostro 3546.

I am trying to run a command example:

sudo mv /home/vaishnavi/Downloads/*.ttc /home/vaishnavi/Downloads/*.ttf /usr/local/share/fonts/ms_fonts/

It works fine in the terminal, but when I try to add this in a shell script (.sh) I get an error saying:

mv: cannot stat '/home/vaishnavi/Downloads/*.ttf': No such file or directory

Simply, I want to move all the files of .ttf and .ttc type to /usr/local/share/fonts/ms_fonts/, in this case. Frankly speaking, I am not so expert in shell scripts. Please explain to me what wrong I did and also an alternative to achieve my expected results.

My sample script:

sudo mv /home/vaishnavi/Downloads/*.ttc /home/vaishnavi/Downloads/*.ttf /usr/local/share/fonts/ms_fonts/  
...

I have recently installed Foxit Reader following this post. In Foxit Reader internet doesn't seem to work.
When I open Foxit Drive I get the following network error:

I am using Ubuntu 18.04 LTS on Dell Vostro 15 - 3546.

When I open my laptop from shutdown the boot screen gets stuck. Hence I followed this and added nomodeset after quiet splash in /etc/default/grub . Then I further added acpi_backlight=vendor after that, due to brightness problems. Now, the line looks like this:

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash nomodeset acpi_backlight=vendor"

After this, I need to manually hold Shift during the boot and need to Enter into Ubuntu. However, It still gets stuck on the boot screen, so I need to again hold the Power button and force shutdown. Then, when I again Enter into Ubuntu, I am finally able to open the device.

This procedure is too long and please help me solve this issue.

I have to manually add nomodeset after quiet splash $vt_handoff by pressing e during the grub. Instead of doing this manually, I want to make a permanent change. I tried this but it wouldn't solve the problem as it adds nomodeset between quiet splash and $vt_handoff and Ubuntu gets stuck on boot screen:

grub

How can I do this?

I have Ubuntu 18.04 and python 3.7.

When I run sudo apt-get update I get this error :

I have just recently upgraded to Ubuntu 18.04 on Dell Vostro 15 laptop. I had some problems related to pulseaudio, so I ran these commands as it is shown here

sudo apt-get purge pulseaudio
sudo apt-get clean && sudo apt-get autoremove

After executing these commands I ran sudo apt-get install pulseaudio and even tried running sudo apt install pulseaudio but these errors occured :

Package pulseaudio is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or

E: Package 'pulseaudio' has no installation candidate

Any ideas how do I fix this?

I am using Ubuntu 18.04 on Dell Vostro 15 laptop. The Sound Settings surprisingly doesn't find any audio device. Here is a screenshot:

I have ubuntu 16.04. I want to add

sudo modprobe -r psmouse && sudo modprobe psmouse proto=imps

to my startup applications.

I added it succesfully but it isn't running with the startup.

I think because of the password requirement.

Please help me as I want it to run along with start of my laptop.

Is there any other way or is there a way to fulfill my above requirements? Please let me know....
