I am trying to convert a video (recorded with OBS) from MKV to audio only (e.g. MP3 or OGG)

in k(Ubuntu).

I tried this command first :

ffmpeg -i myVideo.mkv -acodec libvorbis output.ogg

the result was a video again.

i was searching stackoverlow for converting MKV to audio. I found many converting answers to other video-formats but not to audio.

After every reboot or boot of Kubuntu OBS starts automatically. I think this happens since about a month.

I tried:

• I disabled all checkbox [ ] at Settings>General>System Tray (one was enabled, this Checkbox [x] Enable)
• searched in the Autostart-Menü of kUbuntu

workaround: kill obs seconds after OS starts:

I am using kUbuntu v20.4 and want to set

Unpack separate subdir checked by default

Motivation:

It often happens that I unzip a zip in my Downloads folder and then I have a bunch of files unzipped in that beside many other downloaded files.

I want the default position to be that this zip will be unziped in a new folder or each archive is unzipped into a separate folder.

If I check it manually it’s ok for me, but if I forget then it’s a mess of files around and difficult to repair. So to have it by default or that the GUI can remember the last config (much better in my opinion) it would be very helpful.

How is the default option configured?

I usually close Firefox with the command:

killall firefox

Many websites and tabs accumulate over time. At the end of the day, many remain unprocessed and should not be processed the next day either.

So I want to close Firefox and start it again as empty as possible, but Firefox restores all tabs.

How could I prevent this?

my linux (Kubuntu) graphic is broken. now i have only 1 screen (the other is black) with 1024×768.

• linux menus, and taskbar are not vissible. for open something i use KRunner.
• sometimes aplications are freezing and need restart them.
• cant change graphic card driver
• in the monitor configuation only 1024×768 is possible

i tried update graphic card driver

1. sy into KRunner for open System settings
2. dr into System settings select Driver Manager
3. change NVIDIA driver metapackage from nvidia-driver-510 (proprietary, tested) to nvidia...390

i love to move a window in left/right top/bottom by shortcut.

for left/right/top/bottom it works.

i use at the moment:

Meta + left/right/top/bottom

so i want have for e.g.:

Meta + num pad 3 for move to bottom right

if i moving maximized window a little bit in the other screen in jumps to maximized onto top left.

after Kubuntu auto update all monitors not recognized anymore.

1. if i boot from Linux Boot CD (on week older version) everything looks very good (2 monitors and good resulution)
2. then i start the recovery mode
3. i got only 1 Monitor with 1024x768 and no name for it (second monitor is off)

In addition, I noticed that the configuration of the scceenshot tool was reset to the default values. I usually only take a photo of a selected area using the print button (this can be easily reconfigured, but it's strange and doesn't feel good).

Before my new KUbuntu installation i used the folder brain with Obsidian with no Problems. I use the same user name.

How reinstall (K)Ubuntu with different user-name without losing right to read my backuped data (produced daily with Back_in_Time) from my Data-HDD?

I think I really screwed my computer up and I'm pretty sure that reinstalling is my only option (strange errors like e.g. invisible GUIs.

Over time I have created an SH script which installs almost everything later automatically. Therefore installing the tools and apps later should probably not be a very big problem.

Kate in Kubuntu 20.04 prompts every time for saving when system is trying shutdown, while a not saved file is there. Kshutdown shutdown the PC every evening past hour.

of this PC per month about 20 hours running. sometimes running a complete week.

How could shutdown anyway without prompting, and maybe (extra feature) restore the old files with next start?

what could i do? i don't want use winebrowser if i use element-desktop client. it has normaly nothing to do with wine.

I increase and reduce the LCD brightness on the command line as described here¹:
xrandr --output HDMI-0 --brightness 0.2

My problem is that my brightness setting is automatically reset after a few seconds.

My workaround is a small Autokey (Python) script (gist) that permanently sets my setting.
How can it be done better without this little unnecessary extra CPU load?

Most of the shortcuts for switching windows are misconfigured here.
I am using Kubuntu 20.04 with KDE Desktop.
I want to reconfigure the shortcuts for changing windows.

I searched possibilities for this in Global Shortcuts> KWin> Switch ...

and found posibilities to switch beetween Windows left, right, above and below (Super+Alt+left, right, above or below).

I expected to find the option to switch to the last window there (like Alt+Tab or Super+Tab).

Where is this? How can I configure this?

Ideally, I'd like use Super+Tab to switch direct to the last visited window.
