I tried VMs in virt-manager (or vfio, I don't know the difference), and I found the auto grab and release function a total bargain. Now I switched to QEMU and I don't have this function (at least not by default).
Is there a way to enable it in QEMU?

Can I copy my Ubuntu 20.04 os to another computer (completely, I would like to include everything out of the box) just copying my / directory? If I want to transfer everything on a new computer, can I simply copy/paste my / directory on the new computer?

EDIT: Another question, let me explain my situation. I have several files in the root directories and not only in my home directory that I want to backup, some of them are simply changes to config files, some of them are new files, but I don't know exactly which file is modified/new. I want to move to another computer, and I would like to have the same os working on my actual computer, changing only the hardware. How can I do it? I thought the easy way would be copy-pasting the directories
I would like to enable or disable the microphone in the Terminal. How can I do it? For example, I use sudo modprobe -r uvcvideo to disable the webcam and sudo modprobe uvcvideo to enable it. Is there a command to to the same thing with the microphone?
I tried to install some .deb files in Ubuntu 20.04 from GitHub and other internet sources, but when I open it with Software Install it gives me this problem (Failed to install file: not supported). The only way for me to install them is to go to the downloaded file and do sudo dpkg -i file.deb.
Can anyone help? I don't know what to do and I don't want to use the terminal every time.

EDIT: that's NOT a problem with .deb in Ubuntu, it is a problem with Software install. I can install every .deb through the terminal but not with Software install, and Ubuntu suggests to install .deb with Software install. That's not a dependencies problem or anything similar, that's an issue with installing .deb WITH Software install and I would like to know how I can fix Software installer
I'm going to update to Ubuntu 20.04 from Ubuntu 19.10, and I would like to create an .iso image of my current system and burn it to a USB to restore it in my pc if anything goes wrong. I wanted to keep all my root files and programs installed in /opt and everywhere else.
Is that possible? How can I create that .iso image of my system? I know how to burn it to a USB, but I don't know how to create the .iso file.
Any kind of help would be appreciated.

I would like to separate the system icons in the top bar, that is wifi, bluetooth, sound and battery, to have 4 different clickable icons.
I saw this extension https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/1201/extend-panel-menu/, but it doesn't work in Ubuntu 19.10. I have other extensions installed, so I know how to set them, and I'm sure I did nothing wrong installing the extension. In fact, in the comments of that extension, I'm not the only one complaining that it doesn't work right now.
Is there any other way to do it?

I'm pretty new in Ubuntu and I want to upgrade my Ubuntu 19.10 system to Ubuntu 20.04 (not the beta, I will do it when the full version is out) and to be safe I would do a backup of the entire system. How can I do it?
I want not only to backup /home, but also every file I have in /opt, /bin, and everywhere else.
Is there any tool to do the full backup? If I will need to restore my backup in the new system, how can I do it?

I'm quite new in Linux and I come from MacOS. I miss the easy to use Applications folder and I would like to know if there is a way to create an applications directory like in MacOS.
Since I have Ubuntu (19.10), I created a directory /opt because I found online that the apps installed from Internet are supposed to go there, but I had to create it since that does not exist anymore in Ubuntu 19.10. I think this is not a good way to do it, and I was thinking if it would be possible to create an Applications directory like in MacOS without giving up any functionality.
Any kind of help would have been appreciated, since I'm searching for this for months. Thanks in advance
OS: Ubuntu 19.10.
I use Nautilus as file manager, and I modified ~/.bashrc file to open the terminal in another directory rather than Home. Let's call the target directory $(MYDIR). Now, the problem is that if I press Right Click -> Open in Terminal in Nautilus, it opens the terminal in $(MYDIR), and that's because I think it executes the line of code I wrote in ~/.bashrc.
Is there a way to fix this? I would like to open $(MYDIR) with ctrl-alt-t , but I would also like to open any directory from Nautilus when I do Open in Terminal.
Can I have both?
I think I could do it by adding some code in ~/.bashrc wrapping the line cd $(MYDIR) but I don't know how to do it.
