GitLab is an open-source alternative to the Microsoft-owned GitHub, and I wanted to give it a try. I am not sure I understand what it means to self-host GitLab: Does it mean that my Ubuntu PC transforms into a Server that has to be on for 24 hours?

The error message when running the command from the terminal sudo apt-get install texlive-generic-recommended is in the subject. I followed the first answer from this link, but to no avail.
I ran the following command:
curl -o- https://deb.packages.mattermost.com/repo-setup.sh
and it doesn't work.
How can I remove this curled package and try the installation again?

Is there any way to suppress this, and/or remove this package completely? I had thought that I had installed google-cloud-sdk completely, but apparently not..
When I open the program Software & Updater and then go to the tab Other Software, there is no option to remove this package.

I have Ubuntu 18.04 installed and I also have some apps on it, such as Microsoft Teams. Now, I was wondering: Can such apps, that are from "third parties", so to say, track my IP when I use it? Obviously, if I use their services on the websites, they can, but how is it if I have it as an app installed?
Obviously, I could now go through all the privacy policies of all the third-party apps that are installed, but doing this properly might take weeks..
Here, I asked on how to set battery thresholds in Ubuntu 20.04. I would now like to undo this, but I am not sure on how to do it. I followed the bountied answer in the thread. Could anybody please help?
Just as the OP asked in the other question, I would like to have a battery threshold.
However, for me, when I type into the terminal
echo 80 | sudo tee /sys/class/power_supply/BAT0/charge_control_end_threshold
I get a message in the terminal saying "Permission denied", even when I type "sudo" before "echo".
How can I still do it?
EDIT: I use Ubuntu 20.04 on a Dell Latitude 7390.

I have Ubuntu 20.04 on my laptop and when I have Slack running, the symbol is shown in the top panel, see here:
I don't like the symbol when the app is running, how I can remove it?
Please note that I want to continue using the Slack app!

I made several comments in a pdf in evince, and I would like to remove some of them.
I thought this would by straight-forward by going to the comment and clicking the "Delete" key on my keyboard, but apparently not. Right-clicking on a comment shows a menu, but there is no appropriate command for deleting the comments either.
Any ideas?

I created a bootable USB with Ubuntu 20.04 on it and I wanted to test it on a working Ubuntu 20.04 Laptop whether it works. This was apparently not a good idea, because I get dozens of SQUASHFS-errors and I cannot do anything at the moment (I pressed the on-off-button several times, but the laptop still won't turn off). I am pretty sure by now (since I already removed the flash drive and checked it on another computer) that the flash drive is corrupted.
This is not a huge problem, what does annoy me is that I cannot use my laptop. I cannot take the battery from the notebook (it isn't removable), so what can I do (it probably still has around 5 - 10 hours battery life-time, and I wouldn't mind having my laptop soon)?
I have Ubuntu 20.04 installed and an HP Deskjet 2540. Both devices communicate over WIFI. When I try to print 4 pages on one side, the page order is not correct (regardless of printing from Okular, Evince, Firefox).
I want my pages to be in the following format:
1 --> 2
3 --> 4,
and the page should be in landscape mode.
1, 2, 3 and refer to the page numbers. However, when I directly print from Firefox, for instance (with the setting 4 pages per side & orientation in landscape), I get other formats (like 3 --> 4, 2 --> 1).
Any help would be appreciated!
When I boot up my Ubuntu 20.02 laptop, MT (Microsoft Teams) always starts. Since I would like to avoid this, I went to the default program "Startup Applications" and removed the tick for MT.
Though this works for two or three boots, afterwards, I am still stuck with the same problem. Interestingly, the tick for MT in Startup Applications is still there, even though I removed MT from the list.
Help would be appreciated!

Note that my laptop is connected to my printer via WiFi and that my printer was automatically recognized by Ubuntu (during installation, I had checked the box "Install third-party software for graphics and Wi-Fi hardware and additional media formats").
I have a general question concerning Thunderbird in Ubuntu 18.04: If I remove my mail account from Thunderbird, but had IMAP configured, will all my mails be lost?

However, I was just wondering that if I backed up my entire home folder to an external USB drive, would also all the installed packages and programs (Python3, pip, Opera, ...) be saved in the backup file?
And can I save the backup on a USB where there is an iso file and with which I installed Ubuntu? The USB flash drive has already been formatted.
Furthermore: How much space do I approximately need for the backup, online I read sth about 3 GB?

(i) In order to be able to boot from USB, the USB has to be modified in advance, as I understand it. Also, all data will be erased from the USB drive. Therefore, I want to know: After being able to boot from USB flash drive, can I just use my USB flash drive as usual, if there is enough storage?
(ii) Is a USB flash drive with 1.85 GB enough? Online, I read about recommendations of 2 GB flash drives ... Please note that I would probably to experiment with Ubuntu 18.04 first.
EDIT: Thanks so far for your answers! After having searched, I now found my 500 GB external Intenso-hard-disk. Ca it be recommended making a ful install (not just a LIVE USB drive) with a 500 GB hard disk? I mean at some point in the future, I might still want to use it as usually.
(iii) If booting from USB, can I also save files in Ubuntu or will those be erased every time I restart my laptop?
Currently, I am still using Windows 10.
