I'm an Ubuntu GNOME user and I was wondering if there is a way to be able to automatically reconnect to a VPN on disconnection. I'm using the OpenVPN protocol.
I've checked Network Manager thoroughly but could not find such an option, only to connect to the VPN when connected to a specific WiFi.
NOTE: I have checked other solutions, but they differ in the principle that they offer customization of mouse buttons and add different functions to them, whereas I only want the buttons to be recognized properly.
E.g. I want left click to be mouse1 (but that works), right click to be mouse 2, middle mouse3, G4 to be mouse4, G5 to be mouse5 and so on.
Atm. G5 is recognized as mouse8, G4 as mouse9 and G7 and G6 are both recognized as Control_L, so I can't even use them.
I had a variety of distros on this Lenovo G50-45 laptop, most recently Debian 8 and now Xubuntu 15.04 x64. Whenever I want to put the system to sleep (suspend) I get the error message written in yellow:
Warning!!! Boot script table modified, please contact your vendor!!!
The system sometimes suspends, but mostly it either reboots or shuts down.
I have 20 GB swap, so that's not an issue.
What could be wrong?
While I know some facts about UEFI and Legacy and basic differences between them, like UEFI allowing for faster booting (I've checked this question already, but it doesn't answer mine), I have a bit of a different question(s):
I'm not sure if BIOS settings can have any influence on how the system works and if legacy settings can be the cause of hardware misbehaving, but I usually install my Linux systems in legacy mode, with boot priority legacy first. Is it ok this way or should I change either the boot priority to UEFI first, or everything adjusted to UEFI (this Lenovo G50-45 laptop came with Windows 8).
Also, on my laptop quite a few things don't work properly, whereas on Windows everything worked and I'm not sure where the fault lies. I only recall, that Windows wouldn't install with legacy settings, I had to change boot priority to UEFI first to be able to install it (Win 7 Ultimate x64).
Currently on *ubuntu (any variant) 15.04 I have issues with microphone not working (distorted, very weak sound) and Xorg crashes my entire session with Libreoffice in k3.19+. Tested with many distributions.
So, to conclude, which one is recommended for a flawlessly working system? Do Linux distributions work better with Legacy, or UEFI? (if there is any difference in terms of functionality of the system)
I installed Ubuntu from a LiveCD next to Windows 7 in the following way:
Windows had 3 primary partitions, so I had to create a 4th extended one, under which I created:
Boot was set to legacy due to Win 7 being installed. Shortly before installation I changed even boot priority to Legacy first.
Installation went smooth, except for now when I'm greeted by GRUB and select I want to boot Ubuntu nothing happens. Nothing happens after selecting recovery boot for Ubuntu either.
Update #1:
I tried to change the boot priority settings in BIOS to EFI first, to no avail, although it seemed it would work. After installation and reboot the Windows entry was completely missing from GRUB, so I did Boot Repair while booted into the system, restarted, it worked once, got me to the desktop, installed updates, rebooted, didn't work again. What it did was it created another Windows entry on /dev/sda2, so now I have a duplicate.
Tried Boot Repair even from a LiveCD, to no avail.

I own the above mentioned laptop. I was running Win 8.1 x64 OEM on it up until recently when I decided to go back to Ubuntu.
The problem is on Windows with latest drivers it nicely detected, that I have both an AMD R4 w/ 1 GB VRAM and an AMD R5 w/ 2 GB VRAM installed.
On Ubuntu with latest Catalyst installed from AMD's website it shows only AMD R4. inxi -F gave the following output:

Is there a way to get most of my system again?
Is there a way to go back to toggle the visibility of tray icons in Xubuntu just as it was prior to 14.04 since now Unity indicators replaced the classic tray which I very much dislike because now one cannot show/hide certain apps.
I did a search in Synaptic but couldn't find such a package.
I have an issue that I cannot seem to solve, please see the following screenshot:
The circles represent the key symbols which aren't removed even during live session from a bootable USB of Xubuntu.
What I'm trying to achieve is to move the unallocated space all the way to the bottom so I can merge it with sda7.
I already tried all sorts of techniques of resizing and what not, it simply doesn't allow me to move that partition, it won't get past sda4.
I've searched beforehand and the only suggestion I've found is this one but it doesn't work, at least not on my system (Ubuntu Unity 14.04 x64).
I need to disable the touch on my WACOM Bamboo Manga CTH-470 tablet so only the pen tip and eraser are recognized and not my hand when I accidentally touch it.
I know of this temporary solution:
xsetwacom --list
to list the output of the tablet (example)

I need to make it permanent, so I don't have to insert the command every time I want to work with my tablet.
Sometimes my Unity session crashes just like that - no window decorations, no panel, but whatever was going on in the background continues, like music playback. Problem is though it cannot be restarted, since the option to kill the X server has been removed from 14.04.
I tried to bind the "sudo service lightdm restart" to a shortcut, to no avail. I also tried to restart Unity by typing "unity", "unity --replace", I tried also "compiz --replace" in the TTY session, nothing worked.

despite several attempts at making Google Chrome work as my default browser I simply cannot.
I've read countless threads on the internet, checked mimeapps.list and so on, tried about anything, from simple system configuration by going to settings and change as the default browser there, which, for some odd reason, won't allow me to set a default browser, to more advanced terminal scripting.
This is a clean install of Ubuntu 12.10 x64 bit updated to the latest version including kernels.
