I'm using Ubuntu 18.04 for a long time and I never had issues of freezing until recently from past month I'm facing this issue. But before pointing finger at Ubuntu, I want to make sure which is the actual problem.

These are the things I have tried so far. 1. I saw in a post that, the reason for mouse and/or keyboard getting froze could be lot of dust in the USB ports. So I have cleaned my CPU for 2 times. 1st time I really had dust particles which could create a thick web roll kind of thing. Second time I used vacuum cleaner exhaust to throw away all the dust particles in any corner of SMPS and Proccessor. I also cleaned USB ports with high pressure air.

2. I removed mouse and keyboard and tried reconnecting, still it's not getting detected.

While observing I found out that, I clicked on a link of stack overflow, while my mouse and keyboard froze, the website still loaded without freezing after about 5 seconds. So this concluded that it's not whole OS only USB devices.

I still think this could be the fault of Ubuntu because, both mouse and keyboard can't magically get issue at the same time. Both will work well for some time after hard system reset. So I was looking at system logs. Below are the messages, which I don't understand what went wrong.

The script is working when executed from terminal but, it's giving "(CRON) info (No MTA installed, discarding output)" information when executed from crontab.

Below are my script contents. I have 2 scripts, and a master scripts which executes these two scripts sequentially. You can create them as it is in your system too for testing. I haven't written anything complex here.

testpad1.sh. Script is written with error intentionally.

As you can see, the script masterpad.sh redirects other two scripts' output to their respective log files.

Here is the cronjob.

It's working without issues when executed from terminal, by creating testpad1.log and testpad2.log along with expected output.

But if I schedule the same in crontab, it's giving "(CRON) info (No MTA installed, discarding output)" error. This error was checked by excecuting, "grep CRON /var/log/syslog".

To get both STDOUT and STDERR from other scripts that are invoked from master script or command (which crontab executes), can use both "&>" or still better option "|& tee" redirection or you can use any other suitable option as in this table but, to capture STDOUT and STDERR of master script or command, "/absolute/path/to/script > absolute/path/to/logfile 2>&1" is the only format that works. Hence the modifications to

1. masterpad.sh

I have installed "uwsgi" using pip method. But when I run uwsgi, I'm getting "Command 'uwsgi' not found, but can be installed with" error. If I again try to install using pip, I'm getting

which means it's already been installed.

I was working on Flask project and I'm pretty sure I started creating in the current machine only and have build from the scratch by installed Flask under virtual environment, using "pip install Flask".

But after some days, now I tried to install "uWsgi" using pip and to my astonishment, both "pip" and "pip3" were not found. I'm sure I've not uninstalled pip and even there is no reason to do that.

So is there any way to trace when pip got uninstalled and which program did that? Only software related thing that I've done is update Ubuntu (Not upgrade) when prompted.

I've installed some of the software under /opt folder by compiling. I've added their "bin" directory to the path inside "/etc/environment". I can also use them as a regular user. For eg: NodeJS 10.15.1 has been installed in /opt and giving node -v outputs v10.15.1.

Similarly if I run the same with sudo,

sudo node -v

I'm getting sudo: node: command not found. If I become root by sudo -s and then execue node -v, I'm getting

Command 'node' not found, but can be installed with:

apt install nodejs

The reason I want to use "sudo" is, I've installed "Angular" using "npm". And at certain times, ng serve not reflecting new code changes automatically (which is default behavior of "ng serve" command).

So as pointed out in this post, I want to run this command with "sudo".

Why can't sudo find the executable when it has been added to "PATH"?

I'm using Ubuntu 16.04.03. I was installing the updates as and when Ubuntu prompts me to. A week back, for some unknown reason "linux-image-4.13.0-37-generic" failed to install.

Since I was redirected to initramfs> prompt multiple times very frequently and after executing fsck -y /dev/sda3, only 0.2% of the error on disk was to be found, So I reinstalled Ubuntu OS couple of weeks ago. Now I will be prompted with initramfs prompt very occasionally.

Do I need to reinstall Ubuntu again? I had replaced my Hard disk very recently.

This is how all happened. I was trying to search good screen recorder and found on some website that recordMyDesktop will work well under GNOME *Shell. So I tried searching in google "how to find whether I'm using gnome shell". The first link directed me to official gnome wesite there it showed a message as below. So I thought it is something to do with desktop environment and continue browsing as below.

In this question I tried first answer to find my desktop environment, but the command DESKTOP_SESSION gave me "command not found". So I tried 5th answer by Nadiw. The command and output are as below.

So it is confirmed I'm using GNOME but it is not showing as desktop environment instead its showing "session", by which I got confused.

I've just installed Ubuntu trusty tahr (14.04) and while configuring facebook account in Empathy, the labels are showing in hindi language but not in English. How to change this to English.

Its not just multiple Ubuntu distros in single dvd/usb as stated here or Ubuntu distos with other utility ISO's in a single dvd/usb I'm asking.

I want to include Windows 7 or above version, Ubuntu iso's and utility iso such as boot-repair in a single DVD.

1.MultiSystem is the best tool I found but it will work only for USB.

2.MultiCd script only supports Linux distributions and not Windows.

3.Running Sardu(or any windows tools) from inside wine is not an option I'm looking for.

So is there any tool or script that could combine Windows, Ubuntu and utility disks(boot-repair) ISO's and give out either a bootable ISO or directly burn into DVD. Thank you.

1. How to create swap partition after installing Ubuntu.
2. How to create or add swap file to existing swap partition.

But now for this question. Since at the time of installation i don't know the use of swap partition, i installed Ubuntu 12.10 without swap partition and i used second method as mentioned in "http://www.thegeekstuff.com/2010/08/how-to-add-swap-space/" to create swapfile and got this error while using mkswap

# mkswap /root/myswapfile
Setting up swapspace version 1, size = 1048572 KiB
**no label, UUID=cc477ba5-e2d9-495c-a63b-300c4e5e0048**

and each time UUID differs. But i ignored and continued with next steps and when i tried to hibernate my system i got these errors

PM: swap header not found,
cannot get swap device try swapon -a,
cannot get swap writer

I just want to hibernate my system only using swapfile without creating swap partition. Is it possible? I'm new to ubuntu.

I wonder if updating my system as suggested by the update manager consumes extra space?

Because even after installing all software I would like to use, I had about 10 GB free space. Now, without my knowledge, I have only 6GB free space.

Do I need to keep clearing temp folder contents like we do in Windows? If I need to delete, how do I do so? Any suggestions?

Hello I searched for this query(mounting all partitions on system startup) and found answer near to it. I added this command to startup applications "/usr/bin/udisks --mount /dev/disk/by-uuid/A2E6A54AE6A52011" and other three partitions separately. When i close and open startup applications it wont save all three partitions. It is saving only the last command added. Is there any way i can mount all partitions at system startup ? And the above procedure i followed is also opening that system partition resulting to delay in boot. If possible tell how to just mount all partitions but not to open all. But i want all partitions to be mount automatically. Please help me.
