It gets stuck every time I try instslling it, exactly the same as described here:

To complicate matters further, it's not online, so what's on the bootable flash drive is all I've got. This is because in the setup it's not giving me the option to connect to wifi and it's not accessible with an ethernet.

Embarrassing confession: I had mistakenly installed the server instead of the desktop. I don't know how I got that far without noticing.

As for the internet problems: my computer has a clash with Ubuntu that means I have to fix the wifi connection after each clean install. Only Ubuntu though, this didn't happen on Linux. Using some suggestions on the forum fixes the wifi, but I still don't know what causes it.

The useage of my PC would be so much easier if there was a way to copy and paste links, notes, scripts, etc to a notepad from my Android (Samsung phone) and open them on my PC with a simple click of an icon. Is there a cross-platform notepad app for Linux/Ubuntu AND Android, please?

I searched Snap Store and the Ubuntu apps with no luck and Google gave me loads of false answers and wasted my time.

I'd go for "ease of access" over security (I'd rather not have to enter passwords every time I open it). There is absolutely nothing personal on the PC, I'll just be sending instructions to myself as I'm only using it to learn more about computers.

I've installed everything that was recommended ro run Mycroft AI and I can't seem to launch it. I don't understand what this means (I'm new to this). How do I fix this, please?

(Newbie) Ubuntu 20.04

My wireless network just won't stay online. The signal is strong and the wifi worked fine on Windows and Linux, but neither of the 2 versions of Ubuntu that I've tried (21.04 + 20.04) will maintain connection.

After screwing up by attempting to update with an unstable connection, I ended up freshly reinstalling it today, but it's dropping offline more frequently every time I reinstall (every minute now). To reinstate connection I need to switch the wifi off for a few seconds and back on again. It won't reconnect by itself.

All I have to work with is the basics that Ubuntu came with because I can't stay online long enough to download or update anything.

From what info I could find between forums, I suspect that my computer is one of the unlucky ones that Ubuntu's network manager just doesn't get along with.

I think I may need an alternative network manager, but downloading anything isn't an option.

ipv6 is off, I always make sure it's off after every OS installation because Virgin media (internet provider) doesn't support it. The modem is too far to run an ethernet cable, but the wifi repeater gives it a good signal.

I've been searching the web for answers all day and I haven't been able to find a solution that'll work in my situation. Please help!
