My home directory is encrypted using Ecrypfts (AFAIK). I'm using dropbox service running in the background that syncs local files with the cloud. Starting November '18 dropbox will only support ext4 partitions with LUKS encryption.

I'd like to switch from Ecrypfts to LUKS. Here's the output of blkid.

I haven't found any articles how to do that. Is there a safe way to switch between those two encryption types?

I bought a new laptop with Windows installed on it. I'm going to wipe all partitions and install Ubuntu.

One day I'll probably sell that laptop, so it'll be nice to recover it to the manufacturer state. I want to backup recovery partition, save it to some file and keep that in cloud. One day I'll restore it and reinstall Windows from the recovery partition.

What tools should I use to make it painless? I tried some Windows tools with my current laptop when I first bought it, but after 3 years I'm unable to recover the partition. I created the backup on Windows, so now I don't want to make the same mistake twice.

I have got a new laptop which is Toshiba Sattelite Pro R50 and I've installed Linux Mint 17.1 on it. After a while it turned out brightness buttons are mapped incorrectly.

Fn + F3 is mapped to XF86Sleep

Fn + F2 is mapped to XF86Battery

The keys should be mapped to XF86MonBrightnessUp and XF86MonBrightnessDown respectively.

I've not found any working solution for this issue.

There's one using xbingkeys that allows me to bind XF86Battery to a script, but it still doesn't work for XF86Sleep.

I'm looking for a solution to rebind keys to brightness down/up keys or at least run custom script when the combination is pressed. Currently Fn + F3 puts the computer into sleep mode which is very annoying.

The Audacious music player presents playlist as tabs. File explorers like caja or nautilus provide very easy and useful shortcuts to change between tabs: ALT+NUMBER. Audacious lacks this functionality and I'm wondering if there is a way to change current playlist using only keyboard?

I'm experiencing problems with CTRL+ALT+ANY LETTER shortcuts.

For example the "Lock screen" shortcut wich is CTRL+ALT+L works only when I press the keys in ALT+CTRL+L order. It doesn't work when the CTRL button was pressed first.

A workaround for the issue it to turn off the NumLock, but it doesn't seem to me a good solution because I use the keypad very often.

The shortcuts have been working fine a day ago. I changed one of them in the settings, but I didn't change anything else.

Is there any solution for the problem, or a way to restore back default keyboard shortcuts? I want the keyboard shortcuts work no matter what order the keys has been pressed.

I'm using the wmctrl to close running windows when I want shutdown the computer. It's because I need to save workspace in Eclipse and also I don't want to lost my opened tabs in Chrome. I wrote a little script that accomplish the thing, but it's not perfect. Sometimes windows don't close gracefully so I'm loosing my tabs or changes in source code. Is there any way to tell wmctrl wait until the window is closed? My script depends now on 3 seconds sleep (the problematic line), but it's obviously not a good solution.
