I would like to achieve something like I use in my Mac: Neofinder is a program that builds a database with all the directories and files (and some of their properties) of any hard disk I ask to catalog. It has an updater to regularly update data of the connected HDs.
It is very useful because I also can search on disks that are not connected but they were catalogued.

I installed Catfish but it makes a live search only on the selected HD (it has a bug: cannot 'Show in File Manager' option).

Also tried Katalog. It is a better approach but it is to slow (I understand that first time cataloging a disk would be slow). It creates a csv file.
I scanned a disk and Create Catalog goes to 'Katalog is not responding' for a long time, then Force Quit (this is after it gets the HD file/dir tree).
I'm not asking here for help on Katalog, just for another program option.

I am using Ubuntu/Firefox for several years.
Now some pages do not load completery, progress icon moves permanently.
Examples: "pCloud.com" "facebook.com" "Webmin/File Manager" and others Other pages of those websites load normally.
I tried restart with plugins disables but nothing changed.
Same webpages load okay with Chrome.

According to this creating a new profile would solve the entire issue. I don't want to create a new profile.
At least those pages are loading normally now.

Fresh installation of 18.04
Wakeup system displays the time in the center of the screen.
Click and drag to top is needed to access the desktop.
I couldn't find how to avoid clicking and dragging, I want to just have the desktop displayed after moving the mouse or clicking a keyboard key. Is that possible?

From my old HD (Ubuntu 16.04) I copied ~/.thunderbird and other programs to the new disk with Ubuntu 18.04 installed.
All went good.
I tried to install Opera. The installation was unsuccessful, a window asking something was held.
After that Thunderbird Local Folders -> Inbox (only) was invaded by large icons like this screenshot

Flowers, plants, trucks and others.
I restarted but those images are still there.
Opera was successfully installed. What can I do to remove them?

I am moving to a new hardware I've installed Ubuntu 16.04
I successfully moved .mozilla and .thunderbird to /home Firefox and Thundirbird work okay, very simple (from 14.04)

I installed Opera in new computer but there's no .opera at /home/user
Opera files are at /home/user/.config/opera
I moved old .opera content to that dir but Opera opens like new installation.

What am I missing?

As for Profile path I also copied .config/opera content to the new system.
After that, new Opera opens the same as the source.

It seems .opera at /home/user is deprecated.
I realized newest files are dated on may 22.
So I deleted home .config and Opera still opens good.

Using Ubuntu 14.04 for a year in this computer.
Lately I've noticed that listing files in Nautilus were slow.

After a reboot I got I message something like

Cannot mount My_Disk, Skip, Manual...

I couldn't mount it because of

only root has permission to mount 

Then I edited /etc/fstab and changed from defaults to defaults,user.

The disk is mounted now but in Nautilus 'Devices' is not listed as a Hard Disk without its name, just 2,0 TB Volume.

This hard drive has two folders, one was accessible and its files listed but the other didn't list anything.

I've tried some tools I've read in some forums but things seem to go worse: it takes a couple of minutes only to show both dirs/folders

Opening the second folder takes a very long time 'loading...' and finally an error message.

I have installed GSmartControl but after requiring me the password it closes without any warning. Now I started it again while smartctl is 'running' and it does not close: Scanning system, please wait for a long time.

I don't know what is causing that issue, as I said before I mainly use this computer for mail and web browsers (Opera, Chrome). The disk is used for backup, original images copied from SD disks and from remote server (using rsync)

I realized the problem because of email reports from rsync

Now I've used

fsck -c /dev/sdb1

to fix bad blocks.

I moved the disk to a Mac computer (it is ext4 format but I have FUSE for Mac and fuse-ext2 extension to read ext4 disk format)

I am running rsync to backup files from damaged disk to another Mac formatted HD. Some files are copied fast and others very very slow (1Kb/sec !). Despite that all files copied open good from new disk, none seem to be corrupted.

If files are okay, what can cause those occasionally very low data transfer rate?
