Say I want to migrate from Ubuntu to Debian, or the other way around, how can I reinstall all of my apps on my new system? For config it is super simple, just back up the home folder, but is there an easy way to reinstall all of your apps/software on the new system in an automated and simple manner?

I understand this may be a dumb question but I just realized my main SSD is a FAT 32-bit version - I installed Ubuntu a while ago. Is this partition format ok or would another one work better with Linux?
Are there any advantages/disadvantages to using this format?

EDIT2: To clarify this is the drive https://i.imgur.com/CswZNZd.png and "/dev/sdb1 vfat 523248 4744 518504 1% /boot/efi" - and I ask this becasue I got a notification from Dropbox saying my drive is not compatible with the new Dropbox formats and will stop syncing in November and I've read that Dropbox only accepts ext4 and I had to check and my SSD says what it says. So I am confused is it FAT32 or lime someone explained it only uses FAT32 to boot but Ubuntu is installed on ext4? I am confused.
I am making books into LibreOffice Draw and I post them online for free, but in order to optimize the PDFs for the web that I export through Draw, I need PDF version 1.7. Draw exports in an old format 1.4 - and yes I have the latest LibreOffice installed. So how to convert a PDF 1.4 to PDF 1.7 or newer?
Right now the only way to do this is through GhostScript which is a bit cumbersome (terminal) or through GV program that looks like it is from the 90s and it is difficult to navigate. Is there a better solution like a simple PDF convertor? If I use Master PDF Editor it works like a charm, but that's proprietary so I am looking for a FOSS alternative.

My question is simple: is there a simple tool that can allow me to move a page or pages of a pdf to a different position? Say page 2 to move to position (page) 55 or something like that. Currently I am using PDF Mod but it is painfully slow for big pdfs. Any recommendations? Thanks!
I don't remember to have done anything but it stopped working. It doesn't do any scheduled backups anymore. It works perfectly if I manually do the backups but the scheduled backups do not work anymore. Any idea what to check? What to do? Thanks!
I have Ubuntu 18.04 Gnome. So, I install Krita (from repo or appimage). Now I open Krita and I see the icon in the "favorites" bar (Dash). I right click it to add to favorites but I have no such option. I close Krita, I go to the Apps and there I can right click adn add to favorites. Now Krita is in the favorites (Dash) bar, but when I click it it opens Krita and another icon appears in the favorite bar. 2 icons. 1 is for the opened Krita and one is the one I added to favorites from the App menu. https://i.imgur.com/ZY2I1a2.png
What is happening?
Same thing happens with Kdenlive when I use it as appimage, but not when Installed from repo or flatpak.
How to debug this? How to fix?
I switched from Unity to Gnome in 18.04 and I really miss how workspaces worked in Unity. A simple button displayed all workspaces and you could drag and drop windows to any. You could also drag one window to left, right, or top, and would move to another workspace almost like the monitor was extended into 4 pieces. You could also right click the top bar of any window and choose to move that window to any workspace. On top of that you could set up any window to appear on all workspaces or only on one.
All in all you had awesome options to make the workflow perfect. I miss that. Is there anything remotely for Gnome in this regards?
I am baffled by this. So in Both Ubuntu 18.04 Unity and Gnome the global menu is not working with flatpaks and snaps. In Gnome I have this extension installed https://gitlab.com/lestcape/Gnome-Global-AppMenu and I reported this to the developer and he tried to help (a lot) but we could not figure it out and we think it is the system itself since it is not working in Unity either.
Works with all apps from repositories and appimages. Kdenlive, GIMP, Krita, Transmission, none work as flatpaks or snaps. For instance Kdenlive (same version) works as appimage, but not as flatpak. GIMP works when installed from repo but not as snap.
What could I do? Check? reinstall?
The developer of the Gnome-Global-AppMenu tested it and it works just fine with all apps, so it is something to do with my own system.
As a last resort he recommended:
sudo apt install appmenu-gtk2-module appmenu-gtk3-module
Also you need to remove unity-gtk-module before install appmenu-gtk-module:
sudo apt purge unity-gtk2-module unity-gtk3-module sudo apt autoremove
Needless to say it did not work.
Maybe any of you here and help me out. Global Menu and HUD are so useful I just can't do without them. Thanks!
I am using https://www.pixton.com for several years now to create free comic books in Ubuntu. of course that is a website and also uses flash, but I cannot find any piece of software that allows you to create comic books in Linux. I need something similar - to have a built in sent of scenes and characters that you can manipulate to make them original. I doubt there is an app for Linux to do this but is worth asking. Thanks!
EDIT: I have to mention that I know about Krita, GIMP, or Blender, but none offer what Pixton does (pre-built scenes and characters that you can easily manipulate to create original scenes super fast).
I love Dejadup but I really want to be able to backup every hour or half an hour. I do a lot of work with files on my computer so I would need such an option. I believe the only way to do it is to schedule tasks like dejadup-backup every hour or so, but how can I do that on Ubuntu 18.04?

So I am making free educational books into Draw. I need it because it is amazing at providing the tools I need for design. However for large projects like say over 100 slides, the program gets super slow and laggy.
My setup:
Intel® Core™ i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz × 8 (meaning 8 cores, each of 2.80GHz)
GeForce GTX 1050/PCIe/SSE2
Samsung SSD
DDR4 RAM Memory 31.3 GiB
Draw Version: 6.0.4.2
I have Ubuntu 18.04 and Nvidia 390.
I would expect this setup to handle big projects easily, yet it struggles with Draw. Maybe I am missing something. For example do I have to use OpenGL and/or OpenCL with Draw? If I activate any of them I do not see any major improvement, and with OpenGL activated Draw UI gets very buggy.
Do I have to install or check anything within my system?

UPDATE: I tried different versions of LibreOffice. The 6 or 5 versions, as flatpaks or appimages or from official Ubuntu repositories. I see some improvements with appimages (but mild), and with the 5 version I could increase RAM memory (but limited by the program to 2GB) and that made no difference. I was able to also properly enable OpenCL and OpenGL for the 5 version and I could not see any improvement over not enabling them in the same version. My conclusion is that either LibreOffice is not optimized for such huge projects, or Ubuntu (my system) is not optimized for LibreOffice. Maybe this has to do with the fact that only about 1-5% of my GPU is used when I deal with LibreOffice (but for that matter it is the same story for pretty much any program I use in Ubuntu almost like my GPU is non important). This is sad and frustrating to the point of wanting to move back to Windows to see if LibreOffice deals better with my projects.
UPDATE 2: This is what I have to deal with in terms of slowness https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnWLSgCZszI&feature=youtu.be - however I noticed something. As soon as Draw starts to use over 5-7GB of RAM it becomes manageable and way faster. Weirdly Draw only starts to use over 1.5GB after I open the project, make a change, and save. Only after that it somehow starts to use more RAM. If I don't do that then Draw is stuck at 1.5GB of RAM. So for now, a "solution" is to save big projects after you open them, and hope that Draw is going to use more than 1.5GB of RAM and then it works decently. I need to monitor it to see if it continues to work ok or it will become slow as a snail again. Will update here with my findings.
UPDATE 3: I tested my "trick" with saving a big project right after you open it and it works in Draw 5 and 6 versions (I tested several) - both from repo and appimages. It jumps from around 1-2GB use to around 8-11GB use. And that makes Draw work very well. If I don't do the "trick" then Draw is extremely slow (unusable) and it seems to never go beyond that 1-2 GB threshold. So for now this is a solution but it still doesn't answer the question: why is Draw so slow with big projects?
With Ubuntu 18.04 I started to love the Software center (SC) since it is super reliable and with the ability to also have snaps and flatpaks inside the same SC makes it an amazing place where you can find pretty much any piece of software. But one type of software is missing from there and it is appimage. More and more apps are getting built in that kind of format and with the use of App Image Launcher https://www.appimagehub.com/p/1228228 and App Image Store https://www.appimagehub.com it makes it super easy to install and manage appimages. Just click on any and that's it, it "installs" and adds them to the Gnome Apps. Right click any and "remove" and they are removed. They can also be updated in the same simple manner.
Now I'm wondering isn't there any plugin for Ubuntu SC to add appimages as well? That would be so amazing :)
Weirdly the menu buttons disappeared. 
Kdenlive 18.04.2 flatpak or Kdenlive 18.04.1 appimage. Both experience the same issue with the menu. Not the old Kdenlive 4:17.12.3-0ubuntu1 though. What could it be?
I have to mention that I reinstalled them multiple times without any luck - also deleted the config files.
My question is very simple: how to get rid of proprietary software from the Ubuntu Software Center (USC)?
It doesn’t work to enable or disable repositories. Even with just the “universe” and “main” repositories active you can still see plenty of proprietary software. Examples include Skype, Slack, Spotiffy.
Tested: Ubuntu 18.04 and Ubuntu 16.04.

UPDATE: This question remains unanswered and I believe it is a very important topic so it needs more attention. If Ubuntu claims to be Free and Open Source then give me the freedom to remove the proprietary software from your official Software Center please. Newcomers to Ubuntu Operating System will not know how to avoid the proprietary apps from the Software Center, especially since when they (I, and all of us) install Ubuntu we may choose only the Open Source repositories, yet the Software Center is full of proprietary apps.

I upgraded from 16.04 and then installed this https://flatpak.org/setup/Ubuntu/ - It works to find and install flatpaks from the ubuntu software center, but no flatpak app works to launch.
To give you an example of the error, here's what I get from Kdenlive:

I have Nvidia 396.24.02 installed. Thing is, if I switch to X.Org (Nouveau) they work just fine. Problem is, with X.Org I get a laggy desktop environment. So I understand that Flatpak doesn't like Nvidia? Is there any way to make these work with Nvidia?
I searched and searched and didn't find any answer.
EDIT: It seems the issue is with graphical tools like Kdenlive or Krita. Not with apps like Riot or Signal. I suppose the graphical tools need access to Nvidia and they can't find it?! I hope someone can help. Thanks!
EDIT 2: GIMP for example works. Riot works, Signal works, and most flatpak work. Kdenlive and Krita do not. Same error for both. Very strange.
EDIT 3: I have a better answer after investigating. It seems some packages were missing from the Nvidia install so I installed Kdelive from the flathub website: flatpak run org.kde.kdenlive. That installed some flatpak dependencies, and after Kdenlive was successfully installed all the other apps that didn't work, worked again.
I bought an ASUS GL753VD-GC003 and everything works perfectly on Ubuntu 16.04, except some function keys like controlling screen brightness, keyboard backlight brightness, airplane mode, and a few others.
These do not bother me much but what I would love would be to be able to change the keyboard light color since this laptop allows for RGB colors. Right now the color is red and I cannot change it. I think this is because it has something to do with the BIOS as far as I've read online.
The laptop is a bargain for its price and the fact that Ubuntu runs without a problem on this system, but such small features like controlling keyboard backlight would be cool to have on Ubuntu.
Here's the stupid thing I did: I deleted many folders inside the icon folder, with root privileges, and now some icons are gone, but not the main ones, the ones from compiz for instance, or some from top notification bar, like the skype one. I looked for days to find a solution to restore the icons folder, or to find the default Ubuntu icons to put them back to the folder, but I have found none.
I use Ubuntu Tweak Tool to switch between themes, icons, or cursors, and it works perfectly, but no theme or icon pack seems to bring back some of the icons like I mentioned before.
I hope there is a way to reinstall ubuntu default icon packs. Thanks in advance ;)
I updated Chrome to Version 43.0.2357.81 (64-bit) and after restarting Chrome it displays it (Chrome) in low resolution (as far as I can tell). The tabs are bigger, buttons and text the same. Most of all blurry. I restarted Chrome, the laptop, switch between the 2 graphic cards I have, changed the screen resolution, the Chrome text size, and pretty much everything I tried had no results.
Any help?
