The drivers for my Broadcom WiFi card are playing monkey tricks again. Apparently when I try to re-install the drivers, I get an error due to bcwml-kernel-source being missing, but when I try to install it, I get this:

Why am I getting this error? How can I fix this problem?

I am using Ubuntu 20.04.1 and I am trying to pair my MX Keys keyboard via Bluetooth.

I start the process with the Bluetooth control panel, and I get stuck in this window.

Even though I type the right PIN and press ENTER, still the process does not complete. In fact, it gets stuck in that mode, with the PIN window unable to be closed.

I have also tried using "Blueman" with a similar result. I start the "Setup" process, and this is what I get in the end.

I have managed to get a PIN with bluetoothctl if I reset Bluetooth in my PC, but even if I type the PIN, the authentication fails. It is as if it was ignoring what I type...

I use my "Line Out - Built-in Audio" for my speakers, but for some reason, every time I reboot my computer, it changes by default to "Digital Output (S/PDIF) - Built-in Audio".

The funny thing is that, if I unplug and re-plug my speaker connector, the channel changes by itself to "Line Out" without me having to do anything.

What could I do so that I can stop doing this annoying step every day?

I have a wifi card with support for 5Ghz. The card is the ASUS PCE AC56.

I have installed the drivers for my WiFi card from the "Additions drivers" tab in "Software & Updates", using the "Broadcom 802.11 Linux STA Wireless driver".

I have set my router to give different SSIDs to the networks on 2.4Ghz and 5Ghzs.

When I go to my Wifi Settings and I list the visible networks, only the one on 2.4Ghz appear, but not the one with 5Ghz.

What would I have to do, to be able to find the 5Ghz network?

I have IPVanish as my VPN provider, and usually I could connect without problem to almost all of their servers with Ubuntu 18.04.

But since a couple weeks, every time I try to log into their VPN, I get the following notification:

Activation of network connection failed Ubuntu

I am quite unsure as what do to from this point, since as you see there is not a lot of feedback from the system.

Does anyone has an idea what could I do to solve it?

Footnote: I know I do not provided much info, but it is all I got. If you need any additional information to debug this case, please add it on the comments and I will dump the terminal output right away.

Update 1: I already tried contacting the provider. They keep sending me emails, but they seem quite lost.

Update 2: The configuration of the VPNs is done automatically by importing a .ovpn file. I tried deleting all the existing ones, and reset them from scratch, and it did not help.

Update 3: They use OpenVPN.

I am running Ubuntu 18.04.

When I boot up my machine I keep seeing the same error over and over in my terminal, every few seconds

Someone told me that it might be graphics related, even though i am not sure of that. I am using the propetary drivers for NVIDIA, version 396.

I update my GNOME extensions under this URL with the Chrome plugin

Every time I log back into Ubuntu 18.04 I get a notification, saying that there are updates for my GNOME extensions. But when I click on the green button to update, I always get an error message, that does not disappear until I reboot my machine.

I get that an update MIGHT break something, but that 3 or more extensions give me an error at the same time is very unlikely. Sounds more like a problem with my system.

Why could this be?

I have installed GitKraken, a git client, through snappy.

$ sudo snap install gitkrakren

But when I try to push to my repository, I get an authentication error. This was weird since I can make the push from the terminal without problems. So I went into the configuration and tried to manually set the public and private key. But when I tried to open the folder ~/.ssh I got a message that it was forbidden.

• Could it be that GitKraken uses its own SSH keys, since it is a snap package?
• Is there a way to make it use my own keys or am I forced to use the SSH keys from the snap package?
• If it is the last case, where can I find them?

My company gave me a file company_CA.crt that I need to use to access one of our customers website.

When I tried to add it on macOS, all I had to do was to click on the file, and then after imported, set it as "Always Trust".

I would like to do the same in Ubuntu, so I followed the next steps:

• Copied the CRT file to usr/local/share/ca-certificates/my_company
• Run sudo update-ca-certificates

But I cannot still open the website. Did I miss a step?

I have a VPN configured in Ubuntu and set to autoconnect when the system starts. But when I come back from the suspend state, the VPN is always disconnected and I have to reconnect manually.

Is there a native way to make the VPN connection start again automatically in this transition? If not, is there any kind of script or package that could help me configure this?

When I try to import the VPN settings from an OVPN file, I get the following error.

The file "test.ovpn" could not be read or does not contain recognized VPN connection information. Error: Key file contains line "client" which is not a key-value pair, group, or comment

I am quite sure that the line "client" should not be a problem, since I have it in other .ovpn files as well.

What is wrong with this?

I was adding one of my public keys to the authorized_keys on one of my servers when I realized that at the end of my public SSH key there is my email:

• Why is my email address at the end of the key?
• Does it have any specific purpose?

• Can I write anything I want in my authorized_keys file? Like for instance:

I love using zsh but there is one feature that bash has that I miss. It is this one:

When I type a command that is not install, but it can be easily installed, bashtells you so, but zshno.

Is there any way to fix this?

I want to remove completely Sublime Text 3 from my system. I have tried this:

sudo apt-get purge sublime-text-installer

and the application is gone, but when I install it again...

sudo apt-get install sublime-text-installer

...the themes and the plugins remain installed.

Usually I had installed Image Magick on my Ubuntu systems with a command like this

sudo apt-get install imagemagick

or like this:

sudo apt-get install php5-imagick

Right now I am running the latest 14.04, and those packages seem to have disappeared from the repositories. Am I missing something? Have they been obsoleted? How could I install ImageMagick now?

I have a new computer with an Nvidia graphics card and I'm trying to install Ubuntu. Any version newer than Natty will freeze in this state:

This case is me trying to install 11.10.

Whats weird is that Natty works just fine! What could I do?

I installed Ubuntu Natty but I dont like the loader. The puprle screen gets on my nerves and I miss seeing all the action from the dmesg. Unfortunately I know nothing about grub and I dont know how I should configure it to get it as I want. Could anyone help me?
